The Background
For Sale is a restored 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. This vehicle was purchased from Page Pontiac in Hempstead, NY on 10/31/1977. The vehicle was driven and garaged by my late grandfather in Island Park, NY until I purchased it in September of the year 2000. This car has been my pride for the last 19 years and, as an aircraft mechanic and engineer, I have had a lot of fun marveling at this great piece of American engineering. It is a unique vehicle; I have not seen another Trans Am that is optioned this way and without the Firebird decal on the hood the aerodynamic architecture of the body can be appreciated without distraction. I have enjoyed this car but I feel it is time to move on as I would like to use the money to fund other projects in my life and, so, I have decided to pass it to someone who may enjoy it as I did.
The Business
Please see the spreadsheet in the images, it list the maintenance performed on the vehicle. The body has undergone restoration and the engine has been rebuilt. The vehicle is numbers matching and rust-free. In the spreadsheet, I have listed the parts that have been replaced by me or a professional shop, and I have receipts for the buyer as well. I'm happy to provide additional photographs of restoration work upon request. The upgrades performed to the car have been chosen modestly so as not to upset reliability, yet they are a significant improvement towards driver experience. The original engine has been rebuilt with slightly over-sized cylinders, a high flow exhaust, and mild camshaft for additional low end torque. I will also include several pieces of Pontiac literature; perhaps most importantly an original paperback version of the Pontiac Factory Service Manual which will tell you everything you'd ever need to know about this machine. Mechanically, the vehicle is sound; It runs well, and it looks great. You can expect to receive looks and compliments when you drive.

Disclosure
The vehicle has been driven and so has some minor imperfections here and there. There is a scrape on the rear bumper, and some interior details to be taken care of. The driver seat has some stitching that is torn, and the vehicle needs a new rear defrost switch installed. The Air Conditioning has been removed so that the engine bay could be more neatly maintained. The original air conditioning parts are available.
