Car description |
---|
Here for sale is my late grandfather's 1927 Pontiac Landau 6-27 model. My grandfather recently passed away and we, as a family, have decided to sell his prized car. We would love for it to go to a good home where it will be appreciated and can be restored to its former glory. I have the title in hand; however, all other documentation has yet to been found. I personally helped work on the car while he was still with us and active. This car was his pride and joy and the restoration was done with his own two hands. The most recent maintenance was having the water-pump refabricated by a company in California.
The car was last shown and driven at a car show 5 years ago (please see pics). Since then, it's been sitting in his enclosed garage and was recently moved to an enclosed trailer.
A little history regarding the Pontiac Landau:
General Motors introduced the Pontiac brand as a companion brand to their Oakland brand to share the GM A platform. Released as Series 6-27, this model originally sold for $895.00.
The Landau Sedan was a four door sedan with quarter windows and an ornamental landau bar behind the quarter window. The major change from 1926 was full crown fenders. The engine is 186.5 CID with a bore and stroke of 3.25 x 3.75, 4.8 to 1 compression giving 36 hp @2400 rpm.
They are quite small inside, the driver's seat is not adjustable and the relatively short stroke engine is a little weak on torque. A great little car if you don't climb too many hills and are happy to cruise at 35 - 45 mph.
This car is true tribute to when cars were built, not made. This car has stood the test of time and still has a lot of miles left in her.
