Car description

1973 Pontiac Grand Prix SJ 78965. 8 miles showing on odometer; engine rebuild less than 200 miles (see rebuild breakdown photo). The four-barrel 455ci V-8 came standard on the SJ model. This larger engine was rated at 250 net horsepower at 4. 00 rpm. with 370 foot-pounds of torque at 2. 00 rpm. It also had an 8. 0:1 compression ratio. The only transmission available was a Turbo 400 automatic; manual transmissions had been dropped from the Grand Prix line in March 1971. MI plant While it is not widely known. the legendary 455 Super Duty V-8 was originally intended to be offered in the Grand Prix. as well as in the GTO and Grand Am. Though mentioned in dealer catalogs. the option never came to pass in those cars. It was reserved instead for the 1973-1974 Firebird Formula and Trans Am. New in the 1973 model was the colonnade. six-window styling. and the stationery quarter-windows even contained small Grand Prix monograms for an added touch. Interior features included bucket seats with horse-collar styling and real crossfire mahogany wood grain on the instrument panel and center console lid. Also standard on the SJ model was radial tuned suspension with front and rear sway bars. K65 Unitized Ignition and rally gauges. Options: Air Conditioning not tested. condition unknown but parts all seem to be there AM Radio looks original with 8 track player Power Brakes Power Steering Engine number matches vehicle but I could not confirm transmission number match (I just don't know where to look) Purchased in Idaho in 1995 by my family and rarely driven. this car was stored under cover until 2006 when it was shipped to New Mexico for possible restoration by my uncle. In 2011 the engine was professionally rebuilt but other work was never completed. The car starts easily and sounds strong and smooth. Interior and exterior parts and trim look to be all original. Paint is rough but uniform. Rear lock cover is detached but kept in the console box for reattachment. I am helping my uncle sell some of his collections so keep watching for other rare beasts. A rare find and a true classic. this 1973 Pontiac Grand Prix is waiting for you. For 42 years old. this Grand Prix is in good condition with a couple dimples but no big dents. Dash has a few cracks and blemishes but carpet looks great. Hard to believe but the clock on the dash seems to work. If you have any questions or need more information. I will answer what I can or take more photos. Call 505. 263. 7298Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
