Car description

You can call this 1972 Pontiac GTO tribute convertible a restomod or a pro-touring machine, but really it's so much more. Starting with a low-mileage convertible, next adding a modern GTO LS2 V8, installing high end performance suspension components, and wrapping it in an upgraded A/C interior it all makes this total package the build you've always dreamed of owning. This convertible is absolutely stunning. Rendered in its factory-correct Lucerne Blue, but today it has a much deeper luster thanks to an investment in modern clearcoat paint and a professional hand applying it. The result is a terrific shine that's begging for sunlight, and that's exactly what you want in a classic convertible. Now upgraded to a GTO, it gets all the aggressive details right, too. The large hood scoops, doubled side exhaust, and the low rear bumper that gives this a convertible a sleek rear end like it's trying to slip away unnoticed. And everyone will love seeing the special Year One alloys that take the iconic Rally II wheel design and make them larger and wider. This is an amazing looking classic, but lets really understand what it took to get us here. Those who know Pontiacs, know there was no GTO convertible in 1972, but there was a droptop with very similar packaging called the Le Mans Sport. Complete with the optional Endura front end, it's a dead ringer for a GTO in convertible form. Best of all, a code D67 car like this is rare less than 3,500 were produced in '72. With one touch of a button, the pristine white vinyl top lowers to reveal a matching pristine white vinyl interior. Part of the Le Mans Sport packaging also included the bucket seats, and since this convertible's body has averaged around 850 miles annually, we wouldn't be surprised if these were the original materials that still look fantastic today. This is a comfortable center console car, and the machined aluminum around the gear stick nicely matches the lower portion of the dash. And as you look over the rest of the controls, don't be fooled by their appearance. While this looks like a exceptionally restored/preserved classic, there are some great modern features such as an AM/FM subwoofer stereo with Bluetooth capability, and there's ice-cold R134a air conditioning to keep you cool even with the top down in the summer. In fact, when you grab the factory steering wheel, it gives you a clear view of a full modern Dakota Digital gauge package that has a cool blue glow. When you lift the hood, the engine covers say GTO, but you instantly know this is not a motor from '72. It's a 6.0-liter LS2 powerplant borrowed from 2006 Pontiac GTO, so this correctly tuned, fuel-injected V8 gives a modern twist on a correct GTO lineage. But the moment you turn the key, the header-fed Magnaflow exhaust gives plenty of old-school muscle car rumble. The instillation of this 400 hp beast was done quite professionally, so it almost looks like the modern motor belonged within the satin black fender walls from day one. And this level of professionalism is seen throughout the whole drivertrain. After all, a modern motor needs upgraded components to make the most of its big power. That's why there is a full Detroit Speed adjustable coilover setup on the front and rear suspensions. There are also tubular A-arms up front, rear stabilizer links, and thick sway bars a both ends. A big power machine also needs stopping force, so there's upgraded four-wheel Master Power Brake disc brakes, and the modern grip of BF Goodrich Sport Comp tires. And while all of this seems like the perfect vintage speed machine, it's also a great anytime cruiser thanks to features like power steering and the four-speed automatic transmission w/overdrive.There is a full file that comes with this custom Pontiac that includes original sales material, title documentation, maintenance records, and receipts showing the huge $$$$$ investment in creating your ultimate GTO. This is truly a one-of-a-kind, so if miss it; you might never find something this cool ever again. Call today!!
