1961 425 A TROPHY 389 close ratio 4SPD. Tripower Bonneville convertible!!!!!!! This must be a one of one car built as a Bonneville convertible. Documented by Pontiac Historical Services to have come from the factory equipped with the following options; Circ-L-Aire Heater and Defrost, uper Delux Radio w/manual ant., erma Freeze 10 Quarts, nd of course the Special Order ME coded 389 Trophy Engine with a 4SPD Manual Transmission and a 3.90 Rear Axle, ristol Blue Paint! (Arguably the best color a Pontiac could have in 1961) With a Tri color Silver, lue, nd Ivory Leather interior, nd a Ivory Top. This car has no power brakes and no power steering- nothing to rob the engine of horsepower. Also all of the glass is clear, ot tinted. The Trophy 389 425 A Engine was a special order High Performance option like the Super Duty. The 389 had a 4 bolt main, ong branch exhaust and of course a tripower to top it off. The 425 A refers to the massive amount of torque these 348 H.P. 389s put out. They were mostly ordered for Catalinas and used to race with straight from the factory. Now imagine this setup in a 1961 Bonneville Convertible. This is your one in a lifetime chance to own it. It is totally complete under the hood and drivetrain. I never tried to start it but it looks like it was just parked to await restoration. The current engine in it is a 2bbl 389 61/62 and the special exhaust manifolds have been taken out. The factory special and very rare long tail T10 Transmission with the bench seat shifter is still in place. All 4spd. parts are there and all attached as it was when running/driving. Many years ago I found a replacement 425A 4 bold main block, core tripower setup and the missing exhaust manifolds and they can be purchased by the new owner if desired. The 389 in it has the #177 heads you can use on the replacement block as well as the crankshaft, ods and etc... Both blocks have the heavy duty casting number 538181. The replacement block is coded 50N 348 H.P. Tripower- as rare a code as it is you can just restamp it ME the 50N is faint. As you can see it has rust in the trunk and rear seat area, nd on the body as seen in the pictures. The frame is fine with no rust issues. As far as restoring this car I bought another one just like it and a 4 door parts car too. The second convertible is also a 1961 Bonneville 4SPD. 425 A car- Black with a Red interior and it came with a 3.42 rear gear. All floors in it and trunk are totally solid, ust free.Top frame is excellen, ody does have rust and damage. It is a bit rough... If you win this auction you can purchase the second car for an additional $4,000 and if you want the 4DR. parts car it is $600.00 I also have a NOS quarter panel $1,000. If you decide to restore both cars- which I was going to do- I am the owner of Pontiac Classics and have hundreds of bumpers, enders, oods, eck lids etc... lots of 1959 to 1969 full size Pontiac parts and of course whatever you may need to restore both!
