Car description

Ask yourself this, hen is the last time you ran up on one of these? What an incredible find. I caught word of this car through a friend of mine and blew it off. I said yeah right, 71 Trans Am, riginal condition, nmolested, 55HO, -speed car, nly 885 ever made, hat are the chances of that being a real one. Then I saw a picture. I loaded up the truck and trailer, ent to look at it and came home with it. I could not believe my eyes when I saw it. THE REAL DEAL. Here is your chance to own a piece of muscle car history, real barn find.

HISTORY

I bought this car from an estate. The wife told me her husband had purchased the car from a swap meet years ago, lways wanted to restore the car but never got around to it. She said it was running and driving when he bought it, e put it in the old barn and that is where it sat. I have sent off for the PHS documents to verify the car is a real Trans AM and I have gotten the information verifying that it is a real Trans AM. Those documents will come along with the car.

CONDITION

I have been all over the car and I will describe it as well as I possibly can. I have not touched the car, haven't even washed the dirt and grime off of it. The best I can tell it has never been restored. I have not attempted to get the car running, he said it ran when he parked it. The car retains all of its original sheet metal and has never had any patches or metal replaced. The paint on the car is old and faded and so are the original stripes. The interior is old but complete. There is very very minimal rust in/on the car. Most of it is all superficial with no rust through. The only areas on the car I have found it one area in the driverside front floor or toeboard area. Two small holes, bout the size of a ping pong ball maybe and the other is actually on the roof. There are some pin holes in one area. The rest of the floors are great, ll original, s is the trunk, he drop offs the quarters, he doors, he fenders no rust though at all. The car is amazingly solid and what I consider to be on the upper end of the scale when it comes to condition. It appears to me the car wears its original paint. I cannot be positive about that but I can see no evidence of it ever being painted, o overspray other than on the front lip of the hood and that looks factory. No tape lines in the doors or anywhere. Like I said I cannot guarantee that but cannot find any evidence to contradict that either. The interior appears to be all original. It is not perfect but it is all there. It looks as if the previous owner may have replaced or was trying to replace the heat core. All of the duct work was removed, I have it all) and the original radio had been removed (I have that as well). It has the original spare, ack and all of the accessories in the trunk. It shows 43k miles on the odometer which I have no way of confirming if that is 43 or 143.

DECODING AND NUMBERS

I have spent a good deal of time trying to verify what it original and what isn't. What I can come up with I will list below, t looks like this car retains almost all of its original drivetrain other than the original short block. It look likes it has a "Service Replacement" short block. It is unstamped with a vin or code up top. On the lower VIN pad it is stamped "SR83387". The rest of the heads, ntake, arb, istributor are all original. The trans still has its original "WO" code tag on the side of it making it an M-22. The rear still has its original Posi -track tag hanging from it. It looks very original under the hood with all of the wiring still in place, riginal clamps on the hoses, verything under the hood with the exception of the main A/C line which was in the trunk. It just needs to be installed. It is very complete and original. Below I will list the casting numbers for the engine and other pertinent info.
