Car description

Purchased February, 009 from Oswalt's Mustangs in South Carolina and had it transported to California in enclosed trailer. Odometer had 2000 miles since restoration.Car has been garaged with cover and used for car shows since owning it.

To follow is the builder's description of Duster's restoration.

: 1973 Duster 383 Magnum. The Duster started out as a 6 cylinder with a great body. The paint is lemon twist which is a beautiful color with the black stripes. The engine is a 383. The engine block that was used to build this engine was a 1964 Chrysler 300 which is the best block to use. The compression is 9.1 so you can use pump gas. A new aluminum radiator was installed, ith new hoses, elt, ater pump, uel pump, lternator, istributor, tc. The heads are the 452 casting numbers which are the best cast iron factory heads. The carburetor is Weber 800 CFM with the Edelbrock performer RPM intake. Cam is 470/490 with split duration of 224/234 - the bore is 30 over. A 6 quart Hemi oil pan was used with a Hemi oil pump. The headers are Tri-Y and are chrome - they clear the steering box and are made to fit the Duster engine compartment. From the headers back are mandrel bent 2 1/2 with 340 exhaust tips. The mufflers have a great sound - not loud - just right.

Transmission is a 727 Torqueflite that was rebuilt and the stock valve body was used. A new 2000 stall converter was installed.

The rear end is an 8 3/4 with new 3.23 gears - sure grip. The rear end was completely rebuilt to include new axel bearings and seals. The brakes are 11 inch drum with new hardware and wheel cylinders and brake shoes. The front disc - brakes were rebuilt with new master cylinder and rebuilt calipers with new pads. New shocks front and rear.

The interior has been restored; New carpet, eat covers (front and rear), eadliner, ash pad, oor panels refinished, ackage tray recovered, oor weather stripping, oof rail weather stripping, elt liners, ruck weather stripping. The car came with radio delete option so you can put a radio in, but the real music comes from the 283 and the $1100.00 exhaust system!).

The front and rear bumpers were re-plated. New Duster emblems, new side marker lights, new outside door handles, new outside mirror and new $600.00 N.O.S. taillight bezels and lens were installed. The hood scoop is new along with the 383 Magnum emblems.

The wheels are new Magnum 500's with new center caps and new 265/60/R15 BF Goodrich radials T/A tires on the rear and new BG Goodrich radials T/A 225/60/R15 on the front.

This is a beautiful restoration of a very nice body with no rust - very straight and body lines are clean. The paint is fresh as is the restoration. The mileage was brought back to zero after the restoration. Car had 92,600 miles before restoration. The car can be shown or it is a great driver. I can tell you that it is easy to drive and stops on a dime. No vibration in the drive train as it has a new balanced driveshaft and joints.
