It's not often that you come across a car from yesteryear that so ably bridges the gap between roomy powerful transportation and full-fledged muscle car, but that's just what we have here with this 1964 Plymouth Sport Fury. This well-equipped classic also features a sharp looking exterior, along with a capable vintage drivetrain that equips this Plymouth for action just as soon as you bring it home. As a '64, this Fury closed out the model's... fourth generation, representing it in a trim, muscular, mid-sized form that would give way to a considerable expansion just one year later and take it to full-size status. While this Plymouth was thoroughly restored a while back, it's obviously been well cared for and consistently sheltered during the years following. It wears a sharp tan exterior that really suits it well - the shade injects just a slight touch of modernity, amped up just a bit more by the set of aftermarket wheels now in place, and is subdued and classy with no flaws of note and a consistent shine. Get up close and you can't help but notice the stellar array of chrome on display here - and there's plenty of it to admire. The bumpers both fore and aft were only recently replaced, and the remainder of the exterior fittings, including the front grille and window trim, are really in top form. Precise exterior alignment has the body panels blending together nicely, with even gaps surrounding the hood, doors and decklid. It's not often that you'll come across a vintage interior that's in the clean condition that this Plymouth is sporting. Its components are likely entirely original and everything inside the doors is in top form. Upon climbing in, one of the major dividends of this Fury's relatively generous size becomes evident right away - there's a lot of rear legroom on hand here. The vinyl-clad buckets and rear bench seat show little sign of wear and the factory center console running down the center of the cockpit sports welcome lockable interior space, as well some awesome details that include a distinctively textured chrome panel that surrounds a very cool looking shifter. The chrome accenting on the dash area spans the entire width of the cabin, with a quartet of displays inside the instrument cluster. The added aftermarket climate control system is in top working order - even during these warmer months, you're not likely to have any problem getting comfortable inside this classic. Ample power comes via the period correct 361 cubic inch V8 standing eagerly by under the hood. It was rebuilt as the rest of the car was being restored and in the process was bored out to provide more displacement. Surrounded by color matched inner fenders and firewall, it's crowned by a 4-barrel carb and has a steamed clean appearance to suggest this engine compartment has received plenty of attention to keep it in top form. The powerplant teams with a smooth shifting 3-speed automatic transmission that rounds out a rock-solid drivetrain. The overall driving experience this Fury offers is strong in all respects - including smooth power steering that makes navigation a breeze and power brakes that position discs up front for low-effort, fade-resistant stopping ability as it cruises on a set of ultra-clean 15" factory wheels wrapped with Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires. Below, the undercarriage is very solid and you can see a number of its components have been well-prepped to withstand the elements. Combining a generous amount of interior space with a smooth running drivetrain and overall muscle car vibe, this 1964 Plymouth Sport Fury is a great cruising classic that's sure to turn heads.
