Car description |
---|
1940 Plymouth 8 Passenger Deluxe Woodie Station Wagon. Finished in the factory color, Regal Maroon accented by an Ash and Maple wood body and a clean Brown interior. This Woodie is powered by the original 201.3CI 6 cylinder engine rated at 84HP at 3,600RPM mated to a three speed colum shift manual transmission.
The attention to detail on this vehicle is incredible. It was subject to a frame off restoration using only correct and NOS parts. The original ash frame with maple panels are beautiful with its aged varnish amber color and patin, and to find any woodie with its original wood still intact is far and few between and this character can not be duplicated with new or over restored wood and is a testament to the care this car has had.
The original flathead high torque six was completely rebuilt in the early 90's and has low miles on it. The ultra smooth, simple, reliable and quiet running Plymouth 6-cylinder is a joy to drive, especially when you get on the freeway and engage the factory Borg Warner Overdrive. This transmission is a smooth-shifting three-speed on the column with an extra .78 overdrive giving it a highway friendly 4th gear and the ability to split first and second gear ratios for mountain road climbs.
The Plymouth suspension, consisting of front independent coil springs with twin parallel rear leaf springs and aircraft style tube shocks were way ahead of its competition in both ride and stability . A Four row high density brass radiator, 6 blade fan and full pressure cooling system never overheats even on the hottest days .
This would be an amazing addition to any collection for sure. There was 3126 built in 1940 and this is on of only 13 known to exist today. Talk about a great investment!
