Car description |
---|
This very rare 1963 Peugeot 404 Cabriolet has had just one owner since new, a USA Air Force Captain who purchased the car new in Paris, December 1962. He had this car follow him through all his postings.
The car is very original - it still has it's original white paint and the original black interior, as well as the original factory black canvas convertible top - which is actually quite nice. The car also comes with the veryrare removable hard top.
This is a 4-speed manual transmission model, with the shifter on the steering column. The engine is 1600 cc 4-cylinder, Mechanically fuel injected. The injector lines have been removed years ago, though they are with the car. Naturally, the car is not running now due to the few removed parts. The engine may require some work, we have not done any further testing on it. The car also comes with injectors that appear to be NOS, not installed. The car comes with many spare parts, including new engine bearings, brake cylinders, clutch cylinders etc.
The car has some rust, but it appears to be very isolated to the floors, front edges of the rockers and the bottom edges of the front fenders. The doors seem completely rust free, as is the trunk and the rear quarter panels.I suspect the rust is limited to the floor pans and the front fenderbottoms and the small perforations at the leading edges of the rockers due to moisture from below - perhaps a wet floor under the car, since the rest of the car is very solid. All body panels have perfect gaps, again, the paint appears to be the original paint.
The doors, hood and trunk lid open and close perfectly. The passenger door lock cylinder is with the parts, just not installed. The interior A-pillar plastic covers are with the parts. The convertible top boot is in goodcondition.
We have over 300 photos of the car, showing it in very good detail. If interested, we can email you these pictures.
The car has it's original owner's manual, service book and several service, repair and maintenance books.
This is a very rare Pininfarina designed car - there are just a few left in the USA.
The car is exactly as discovered from a very long time storage, nothing has been done to the carin order to enhance it other than a bath.
This is the very early version 404C with the desirable round Carello front turn signals. Please note there are no keys to the car. The steering is not locked.
I have a clear title to the car and can offer domestic and international shipping assistance.
The car is advertised locally and is subject to prior sale at any time.
I welcome and encourage a personal inspection - please call me at (909) 910-9959 if you would like to arrange a visit to see it.
