Car description |
---|
On offer is my beloved 1979 Peugeot 504 sedan. I am the third owner of this car since new, having purchased the car in 1992.
The car was my daily driver for the first few years of ownership, until I bought my first 505 in 1995. The 504 has been a regular runner but with light use over the years since.
This car was the top of the line model, equipped with the tachometer, A/C, electric front windows, manual sunroof and power steering. The car is equipped with the ZF3 automatic transmission, and is badged "Automatique". The A/C does not work (never really needed it where I live), but system is all there and could be a straight-forward recommissioning.
Overall, the car is in good to very good condition. There are a few blemishes and chips on the paintwork as you would expect on a near 40 year old car, but the paint is holding up pretty well. (Not the original color). There is some minimal surface rust along the trunk lid and in the front left quarter panel. Wheels were powder-coated 3 years ago and look great with the chrome hub caps.
The interior is in very good condition. Dashboard is excellent, seats and headrests were reupholstered a while back and the front seats have newer sheepskins. Carpet is all original and in good shape. All gauges work. The stereo is an aftermarket Kenwood unit (CD player, remote control, AUX, USB, Bluetooth and Pandora capable) mated to a pair of rear shelf mount Infinity loudspeakers.
This model came with a pair of Solex carburetors - at the moment, the car is operating with just the single primary Solex, which was recently fully rebuilt. With a new catalytic converter and muffler, the car drives better than it has in 20 years. Power steering, handling and ride quality are all good, as one expects from a 504.
A list of recent work done on the car includes -
Tune-Up/Temperature Gauge/Exhaust Pipe Repair - 10/2018Carburetor/Catalytic Converter/Muffler - 07/2018Minor Suspension Fix - 02/2018Distributor/Plugs/Leads/Tune/Smog - 04/2017
All work on the car has been done by Jesse and Raul at Dubarr Automotive of Huntington Beach.
I have all original owners manuals, receipts since I purchased the car and an original sales brochure. A box of parts - including the secondary Solex carb, and all the dash trim pieces - are included.
Clear California title.
I will be quite sad to see this wonderful car go - some great memories but relocation overseas forces the sale. Any questions, please ask. The car is listed on other sites so I do reserve the right to end this listing at any time.
Payment will be by cashiers check or cash, with a deposit of $500.00 lodged with Paypal within 48 hours. Any shipment requirements are the responsibility of the buyer.
Thanks much for looking and good luck.Cheers!
