Bringing Classic and Collectable Car Buyers Enter Description Here Bringing Classic and Collectable Vehicle Buyers & Seller Together Worldwide 1955 Packard Caribbean Convertible One owner 53. 09 original miles Offered here is this nice original 1955 Packard Caribbean Convertible with 53. 09 miles. This is a one-owner car from new and is being made available for the first time ever to go to its second home. The car was purchased new in Manchester. CT in 1955 by a Mr. Elmer and Mrs. Shirlie Thrall. Mr. Thrall was a respected CT business man and owned one of the largest school bus companies in the region. Mr. Thrall was an avid early collector and used this car as a daily driver for the first couple of years and then retired it to an occasional weekend driver until 1981. The car resided at the same address for its entire life and when Elmer died. his son John inherited this car along with approximately 40 others (The car stayed in Elmer's name). While John had a passion for the cars. driving them came at a price as he was busy running the family bus company so this and many other cars in the collection sat. Sadly. in the winter of 2013. John Thrall passed away and after some estate settlement. nearly all of the cars were sold. This one remained as it needed a full mechanical rehab to run and drive so the estate had the work done at a respected CT restoration facility. The seller was a personal friend of Mr. Thrall's and purchased the car with the intent of restoring it. Once it arrived to be done. they deemed it better to keep as an original and moved on to another project. The car is an original car with some original paint. original sheet metal. original engine and all accessories. It is a rust free car. Cosmetically it is average and could be enjoyed as is as a low level driver or it could be restored without the need for major metal work. Some of the paint is original but without question. some of the paint is a respray. Also. there is peeling paint on the lower dark green area on both sides. The chrome and trim are entirely original and reasonably well preserved. The top and all of the associated hydraulics is brand new and functions perfectly. The car is now shod in brand new wire wheels and wide white wall tires. The front bumper has a small dent in the center and left corner . the rear is excellent. Please see the pictures. The interior is bone stock original. The leather. all instruments. gauges and dash are as they were when Mr. Thrall took delivery in 1955. The steering wheel is nice and the radio and gauges work. The leather has lots of age cracks but no serious tears or holes. The carpeting is excellent and appears totally correct. Under the hood is the original V-8 engine. It has been entirely tuned up with all fluids. spark plugs. and wear items replaced. The fuel system has also been gone through with the gas tank boiled. All fuel and brake lines check and replaced as needed and a full brake service as well. The car starts easily. runs very strongly and stops well also. The undercarriage is dirty original. There is no serious rust other than some surface and is also ideally suited for an easy restoration or to enjoy as is. The trunk is original with original factory liner in place. It has a spare of unknown origin that has probably been in the car 40 years along with the jack and handle. The trunk lock is out of the car. Overall. the car is a 3- condition car. It is a solid starting point for a restoration but if a true preservationist might want to keep it as original as possible. Please feel free to call or email with any questions! This car should not last long. Bill Schwartz 260-249-0399 bill@topshelfreps. com Terms and conditions There is no existing warranty from the factory. This Vehicle is sold "As Is”.
