1965 SUNBEAM TIGER MK1
EUROPEAN BUYERS WELCOME!
VIN: B9471062
The Sunbeam Tiger is a high-performance V-8 version of the British Rootes Group's Sunbeam Alpine roadster, esigned in part by American car designer and racing driver Carroll Shelby and produced from 1964 until 1967.
The Sunbeam Tiger caused a big stir when it appeared at the 1964 New York auto show but it lasted only until 1967, when Chrysler bought the financially distressed Rootes Group. The Tiger Mk I features the 260-cubic-inch small block Ford V-8 and can be distinguished by round corner doors and lead-filled body seams.
This matching numbers Mk I Sunbeam Tiger has been in the loving care of one owner since 1990. The car is just as much fun to drive today as it was back in 1965! It was restored gradually over the years. In 1991 the cross member and a couple of panels were professionally repaired with parts sourced from Tiger Tom's.
In 1992 the car and the hard top were resprayed to their original livery. The hard top was not restored past the paint stage and has remained in storage since. In 2012 the complete interior, onvertible top and dash panel were professionally installed with items from Sunbeam Specialties. Receipts document most of the work completed since 1990. The paint is 23 years old so you will find evidence of the paint's age including minor blemishes and blistering on top of the fenders near the doors. It was difficult to get these areas to show in the photographs. One door latch needs adjustment.
The car was never TAC'd because the nearest inspector was 800 miles away.
