Car description

1973 Opel GT 2-Door Coupe

(Please note: If you happen to be viewing this vehicle on a website other than our main website, it's possible that only some of our many photographs of this car are presented due to website limitations. To be sure you access all the photographs, please go to our main website: Garage Kept Motors.)
The Opel GT has become an iconic, classic sports car that has a lot to offer in a small package. It was styled to look like a smaller version of the C3 Corvette and was engineered by Germans for healthy performance. The first prototype was introduced at the 1965 Frankfurt Auto Show and went into production from 1968 to 1973. Owned by GM, they came to the states and ended up in Buick dealership showrooms. The example offered here is one of the most original, lowest mileage and highly documented examples we've ever seen.
1973 marked the final year of production of the proper Opel GT (there was a resurgence in 2007, which was essentially an Opel-badged Saturn Sky). The is one of 11,380 cars produced. Returning home safe from the Vietnam War, Mr. Warren Dixon bought his son, Thomas Dixon, this Opel brand new from Braun Boktor Motors of Little Rock, Arkansas on February 21, 1973, as stated on the original title in our possession. Thomas drove the vehicle sparingly for the next decade, putting nearly 28k miles on it, with the last registered plates from 1982. The car was then tucked away in a climate controlled garage until being discovered by a neighbor in late 2019. Below you will find a list of all the new components and work performed to make this survivor GT road worthy again.
The car came in Strato Blue Metallic (code 235) over a Black (code 751) interior. The paint and interior remain original, and in excellent condition. It was powered by the bigger 1.9L/102hp 4-Cylinder motor with a 4-Speed Manual gearbox. Being a southern car and stored appropriately, the car remains in remarkable cosmetic condition. And mechanically, we can argue, it is better than new. It has has the following service done in the past six months: all new drums, shoes, rotors, pads and calipers, rubber brake lines, metal J-lines, big bore master cylinder, Weber carburetor (original Solex carb accompanies sale), re-lined fuel tank, fuel filter, fuel pump, air filter, oil change and filter, vacuum lines, fuel lines, spark plugs, muffler, ignition points, head lamps, distributor, replaced bearings and seals, door handle trim, shifter boot, five-piece hood seal, refurbished wheels and new tires.
As mentioned, we have the original title plus the original spare, jack, original radio, service book, two sets of keys, original license plate, and all the receipts for the work mentioned above. This is a real deal, collector grade Opel GT. It has been well-sorted and ready for a new garage to proudly call home. You will be hard pressed to find one more original, lower miles, and known ownership history since new. Be sure to check out all the photos and video on our main website: Garage Kept Motors.
