1965 Oldsmobile Cutlass Sport Coup survivor car lowmileage
Up for auction is a genuinely nice, completely original paint, low mileage survivor car with 48,475 documented miles. The car was bought newat Money Oldsmobile Company in Phoenix, AZ on 6 - 16 - 65 by Clifford Stear whoat the time was the Sheriff of Maricopa city in Phoenix. He owned the car for severalyears until his death.
A buyer from the state of Georgia is where it stayed for severalyears. Next it was then sold to another collector from Madison WI which iswhere I bought it from about six years ago.
The car has the original windows sticker protecto – plate, titletransfers and service receipts to validate the mileage. The car is a highly optioned example of thedesirable 2 – dr sedan or post( in myopinion) for the vault- like doors. It is painted Lauren Mist on the lower witha white painted top. The options are the high compression 4- barrel 330 cubicinch V-8 with a 2 - speed Jet- away-auto trans with switch- pitch torque converter P.B., P.S. factory air condition, tint glass, lamp group and various other options that can be seen on thewindows sticker. The car is 100% original paint has some scratches, chips and thinareas which are to be expected on a 55-year-old car. The body is completelyoriginal and rust free except for a “3/4 X 2†area in the drivers foot well and on thebottom front corner of the passenger door there is some slight damage from animpact of some kind ( see picture) rear body mounts are excellent.
I’m a long time Oldsmobile collector and go to every Oldsevent within a reasonable distance and this 65 has the nicest trim I have everseen since on a unrestored car, which is saying something with its pot metaltrim, the interior shows very nice all original with the carpet showing some wearand two seam separations in the front seat from the previous owners grandsonjumping on the seat with his knees( true story). The original material is available from SMS ifa person wants to repair it.
Mechanically the car drives, runs, brakes, and handlesexcellent. The air-conditioningworked when I bought the car, but over theyears has lost its charge. It is still R– 12. The trans and converter were rebuilt about 400 miles ago ata cost of over $800. At the same time, I replaced the heater coilwhich is no small task. Shortly after Ipurchased the car, I installed the rear sway bar and box control arms from a442 with new shocks, also a new dual exhaust system with Flowmaster turbos. I put back on the original wheels and hub-capswith Michelin Radials. At some timeprior to my ownership the carb was replaced with an Edelbrock performer carbwhich has worked perfect for me on this car.
I can provide acorrect core carburator if someone wants to make it completely original. Well thatis all I can think of now. If you have any further questions you cancontact me through e-Bay or at five-0-seven, four-5-six-, two- 9- five-7. It is a great little car goodluck bidding!
