Car description |
---|
I started this project many years ago and never finished it. Just about everything is there to complete this into a nice G-Body High Performance build. The following are my recollections from when I was working on this 15-20 years ago. I essentially bought everything I needed, then got sidetracked with kid's cars and never got back to this project.
Engine:
The engine is a fresh rebuild and has never been turned over. It is as I picked it up from the builder 17 years ago or so. I had it built so that it had more power than the best 442 but would still be drive-able on pump gas.
· 455 bored .060 over
· Comp Cams cam, I don't remember the exact specs but it has just under an inch of lift
· Comp Cams roller lifters
· Cast iron "C" Heads, ported with 2.09 intakes
· Set up for 9:1 compression
· Hooker Ceramic Coated headers (by Mondello) made for a G-Body 455 conversion (one tube wraps around the frame, the dent is to accommodate the steering column. That's how they come).
· Quadrajet Carburetor has never seen gas (Rebuilt for performance by Battery Ignition in Hartford)
· Olds Distributor (Rebuilt for performance by Battery Ignition in Hartford)
· Lokar Throttle and Kickdown cables
· Comes with two sets of stock valve covers and the Edelbrocks in the pictures, they are a bit tight
· Built with "Totally Stainless" 10-Point stainless steel hardware
Transmission:
· Turbo 350 built for racing, I don't remember the specs. This was done by a transmission shop in Hartford.
· New B&M Hammer Shifter
· Custom Dual Exhaust Transmission Cross Member
Rear End:
· 10-Bolt Posi rebuilt with 3:56 gears (as I recall)
Car:
· The body is in very good shape for a 40 year old car. It has some rust and rot, but the floor pans and trunk are in good shape.
· I rebuilt the suspension and front end with parts out of a Monte SS, replacing ball joints, shocks, bushings, tie rod ends, heavy duty sway bar, etc. These parts will need to be transferred to the new frame.
· The frame that the car is mounted on is rotted, but the car comes with a good, solid frame. I intended to notch the rear for larger tires, I have the metal if you're interested.
· Has been upgraded to:
Ralley Pack Gauge Cluster
· Tilt Steering Column for a Floor Shifted car (no shifter on the column, ergo the B&M Hammer)
· It also has AutoMeter Gauges
· The front seats have been removed. I intended to put buckets in it and my son tried to turn the front seats into a dorm room sofa. I still have the seats and they are in very good condition, but the mounts have been yucked up.
· The rear seats have been host to mice and will need new foam padding.
· Comes with 350 and 455 Frame Mounts
· This car has most everything you will need to complete the project, I have the original radiator, driveshaft, extra pumps and pulleys and most everything needed to put this car back together.
· I also have the original steering column and original transmission cross member.
I know I'm going to take a hit on this; I have a LOT of money invested in this project. Pulling everything out and cleaning it up kind of makes me want to finish it. But a lot of time has passed and I'm getting ready to retire. I had always thought that this project and my 62 Impala convertible project would be done by now, but life got in the way so I'm selling both to pay for my (running) C3 vette.
