Nice Original 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado Deluxe
Here we have for sale a nice original 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado. This car is complete and in good shape for its age. The car starts up and runs nicely and stops well. The Toronado is a very iconic car, it was the first massed produced front wheel drive automobile after the Cord in the 1930's. GM put over a million miles of testing into this front wheel drive system before they produced it, making sure that it was reliable. The car was from here in Reno, Nevada. I am not sure if it was original bought here in Reno but it did spend a lot of time here. The body is in great shape and its a very straight car. The car is an old restoration that has been sitting. The paint is old but still presentable. It must be some thick lacquer paint because there are numerous areas that the paint is cracking and you can see the roof has some flaking white paint on it. There are some chips and scratches in the paint but overall the paint is in good shape and presentable in my eyes. You could leave the exterior alone if you wanted to and just put your attention into the interior. There is some minor rust in the body, one little spot by the top of the wheel well on the passenger side front wheel. There there is a spot in the wheel well in the driver side rear well. Then there is some rust in the driver side floor board. It still is a solid floor, you can patch that easily and put new insulation and carpet in the interior and you would be good to go. The bumpers, both front and back are nice and the chrome is nice on them. They are really straight bumpers with not really any major issues. The headlights do in fact work! The passenger side does stick sometimes but the vacuum controller does still open and close the headlights. I'm sure they could be greased up to make work smoothly. The glass is all intact in the car. The wheels are chrome with chrome wheel trim rings. I believe that this is an option. The tires are in good shape. The brakes work and stop well. The engine is a nicely running original 425ci v8. It starts right up and runs very well. The engine is very powerful and its hooked up to a hydromatic automatic transmission. The car has power brakes and power steering. The air conditioning compressor is in the trunk of the car. I am not sure why it was removed but at least it still is with the car. The wipers work, the horn works but the blinkers don't work. I havent investigated why they don't work. The interior of the car is all there but it needs work. The seats are power and still work but the material is work and the seat foam is heavily broken down. There is no carpet on the interior. It was removed for some reason. The door panels are original but need attention too. They have plastic parts to them and the plastic has broken in areas, making them not well attached to the doors themselves. The windows are all power and still work. The power door locks don't seem to work. The steering wheel is tilting. The wheel itself has some cracks in it. The dash has cracks in it too. The speedometer works. I'm not sure if the clock works or not. The radio is not hooked up but it is there. The headliner looks original but has fallen down in the back. There is also speakers on the back shelf behind the back seat rest. There is a power trunk popper in the glove box. The trunk has extra parts in it like the original seat belts, AC compressor, some miscellaneous new parts and some other items. I say this car runs and drives but I would just do a once over on it to make sure everything is sound before taking a trip or driving it for a distance. It sounds great and doesn't make any weird noises but it is an old car so anything can happen. This is a perfect car to just fix up the interior and drives and enjoy. Put new pads and covers on the seats, new carpet and fix the door panels and you are in business. I am selling the car as-is. Please ask any and all questions that you may have before bidding on the Toronado. I have a clean and clear Nevada title coming from the DMV in my name. It will be in my hands shortly. I can store the car for up to a month so that shipping arrangements can be made and the car is picked up. I accept cash, check, or money order as forms of payment. My phone number is 775-830-6760. Thanks for looking!
