Car description |
---|
1985 Olds Cutlass Ciera Diesel LS. This is Oldsmobile's classic FWD Diesel Sedan on the A-body. The 85 models have the improved LT7 Transverse Diesel engine with a four bolt main and improved coolant flow around the cylinders. They use only Aluminum Heads, with a revised Head Gasket design. This Sedanhas the TH125C three speed transmission with overdrive. This is a mechanically sound car in need of restoration (paint, interior work, and minor maintenance.). The seats and carpet are sound but soiled and faded. Oneend of the rear seat has a gouging mark on it. Needs headliner and dash fitment repair. Exterior has surface rust on the top, hood and window surround on the doors. The trunk lid is beginning to rust through in the usual place and could be replaced. Right front fender has some rust at the joint with the header panel, and a pencil sized place where it rusted through from the top (due to some sort of damage?), but the fender is otherwise sound. All the emblems are with the car, except for the front grille emblem. The door side molding is also present to complete all but the passenger door. Radio Cassette deck had been removed.
This classic Ciera on the A-body had a long and profitable run at GM. Here is a promo video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzy-dKfUpO4

I have a restored 1984 model that is a pleasure to drive and gets 32 MPG highway.
I am continuing to work on the car, driving it around town and repairing minor mechanical items. The list now includes: new engine oil & filter; new air filter; new trans oil & filter; new transmission front & rear mounts; new lower engine mount; new fuel filter, fuel pump and injectors; new cooling fan relay; remanufactured alternator; new right inner CV boot; new shocks & struts (which I have not installed yet).
