RARE 1989 Mitsubishi Montero 1-Owner! 100% Complete Original Time Capsule!
I purchased this awesome rig from the ORIGINAL owner less than a year ago. He bought it off the lot in Milwaukee in '89! He drove it as his daily for a few years, and used it to commute to work. The car has a lot of highway miles. PO always had it maintained at the dealership. (I believe him because the dude was a millionaire). It was also always garaged, so the paint and interior are in incredibly good condition! Since I've purchased it, it has been driven almost daily!
I've put around 12,000 completely trouble-free miles on her. She's never let me down! From road trips to climbing snowy Utah mountain passes, this rig has always gotten the job done. It is the top trim/model for the year, with power locks, windows (Auto Drivers Window!), HYDRAULIC SEAT, Power Sunroof (Needs Cleaned), Chrome Trim, Cruise Control...and more. Everything is 100% Original on this Montero! From the Front Windshield down to the radio, and everything in between!
4x4 system engages and works 100% properly- it has always been well maintained. Hi and Lo are AWESOME in the snow! For maintenance, I've pretty much just been making sure she's topped off on oil- she does burn some, I find myself adding about 1.5 qts a month. The PO told me stories about how one particular technician at the dealership loved seeing and working on this car, that he often spent extra time and care into lubing up the 4x4 system, suspension, steering, etc. It drives well at 90mph+ and the previous care shows. New-ish all-terrain tires. $600, have the receipt. New-ish battery. Does NOT leak anything!
The only real "issues" with this rig is the rust. It was born and raised in Milwaukee! So she's rusty, but certainly trusty! The A/C and Heat work...but with a caveat. Only at 40mph+. The faster you go, the more air blows out! (Lol, never looked into this, neither did PO) It's been fine for me in the summer with the front "smoker" windows and plenty of insulation in the winter.Because this Montero was garaged its whole life, ALL the body seals are fresh, soft, and not sun-rotted or falling apart like most! The interior is in the same "time-capsule" like state. Itwill also need front brake pads and some frontsuspension work, (on the passenger side its abit "floaty" over some large bumps) Again, I drivethis every day on the highway and throughmountains, it pulls hard and strong. NO lights on the dash besides amaintenance reminder light and abrake light that's stuck on for some reason. E-Brake worksfine.
The photos speak for themselves! Please view them all carefully before bidding!
This is my 3rd 1st Gen. Montero- and I'm convinced these are some of the most underrated, rugged and reliable vehicles the States ever got. I've taken this Monty to Moab, Colorado, and currently up to the ski slopes. Just rolled over 218,000 and the engine purrs like a kitten. If you can look past the rust, or get it fixed, you'll have a super rad and reliable rig! I'm only selling because I bought a VW Bus!
Happy Bidding!
