*Starting price is my absolute bare minimum/reserve, so please - no best offers by email. The buy it now is more than fair, so please consider that before bidding! There are 1st gen VR4’s for sale all over the place with 85,000-100,000+ miles on them for $12k or more, and most have been heavily modified and driven hard or even tracked, so bare that in mind J This was always a garaged baby.

This is not a Supra, a Skyline, a Porsche 911 Turbo, or an NSX. But it ran with those exact cars of that era, and either beat them or was mere 1/10ths of a second behind them. The VR4 did not get the same fame as the Supra or Skyline simply because it was never featured in any blockbuster movies, much like the 300zx twin turbo. So that is the only reason this car isn’t $30,000! Otherwise, it’s a direct competitor, capability and engineering wise, not to mention looks wise! It’s a gorgeous car, and low and wide – as wide as a 1st gen Viper!!

Things that are fantastic:

This VR4 is unmodified. The only updates done were a steering wheel wrap, the LED headlights and lamps, fog light bulbs converted to LED, and LED’s replaced the original bulbs in most areas. The rest is 100% original. It has not been tuned or upgraded in any way, it is unmolested. The only “mod” done is the free boost mod, which bumps the boost psi from 7-9 up to 11-13 like in the 94+ VR4’s. I have the small hose plug-in in case anyone wants to undo the mod from the boost solenoid, it’s a 30 second job.

All of the fluids and oils currently in the car have been checked and are in newer condition, and at the right levels. Engine oil looks fairly clean and at the right spot on the dip stick, Power steering is clean, coolant is nice and green and full to the top, washer fluid is new rain-x orange fluid and full, clutch oil is good, brake fluid is good. Rear differential and transaxle were checked by opening the fill bolt and inserting a separate dipstick in at an angle - Oils are clean, and at the correct level. NO LEAKS! No boost leaks either, no strange noises, no shakes or vibrations. Air filter is clean as well. Runs very nicely.

Brakes have plenty of bite left, no squeaks or rattles.

*Ignition wires and wires block are new. Coil packs are new. Throttle body linkage and accelerator pedal link are new. Ignition relay is new. Wipers are new.

*Headlamps and LED bulbs are new. Fog light LED bulbs are new. Steering wheel cover is new.

*Tail light and license plate bulbs all converted to LED. Interior bulbs converted to LED.

A/C and Heat work perfectly.

Tools and spare tire are under the cover in the trunk.

Original Mitsubishi manual included.

Windows roll up and down, and locks work fine. Cruise works. Mirror controls work. All lights work. Original stereo and EQ works/sounds great. ECS switch works and engages. Switching from tour mode to sport mode works, and the exhaust flap also engages perfectly. Gas door, hood and rear hatch latches work to open them, nothing sticks.

Engine and transmission run strong. Literally 0 leaks of any kind. Turbo’s pull nicely at 11-13 psi depending on what gear you’re in, as designed. No hesitation or bucking. No creaks or vibrations even at higher speeds, runs great.

Any parts this car might need are very affordable. As long as you aren’t upgrading to custom performance parts from 3SX or other sites like it, you will be surprised to see how cheap and readily available parts are. Rockauto is one source where you can find basically any part for it, and eBay is your friend.

Things to consider / fair warning:

This is a 25 year old Japanese turbo sports car. For its age, it’s in pretty great condition. However, it will need a few things here and there, but nothing crazy. The engine runs strong, as does the transmission, so no worries there. The primary things it needs are cosmetic.

The paint on the front right fender and the left door needs a refresh. The bottom window trim on the doors needs to be peeled and personally, I would just lay down a strip of carbon fiber vinyl or just plain black vinyl to match the original trim - cheap and easy.

*I know you see this on some car listings, but this is a legitimate warningthat should be mentioned. This car gets unrealistically crazy amounts of attention. It is a low, wide, and long car with LED’s all over it – people will look. You will get honked at, smiled at or just starred at. People will tailgate you for no reason at all. Basically any car will try to race you – even giant SUV’s. So far no negative attention at all from the girls and boys in blue. You will find people stopping to look at it in parking lots, and taking pictures of it, sometimes while you’re sitting in it! Most people don’t know what this car even is. It seems to be worse at night time. You’ve been warned!!!

Things it needs:

I have 2 keys, but no keyfob for the factory alarm. I planned to install an aftermarket alarm system but never got around to it.

Antenna – get rid of the original antenna and upgrade to a fin or some other antenna type.

Door windows have some scuffs on them, can be buffed out or just replace them for cheap.

Dash vents - $100 on eBay

New floor mats.

Rear “3000GT” and “VR4” emblems were removed. Will need these replaced. You can get them on eBay or 3SX for $10-30.

Active Aero in front has been removed, and in the rear it needs the 2 $7 sensors to be replaced in the wing – there are how-to videos on this, please let me know and I’ll send you links to all the DIY stuff I have. Once done, you can flap the wing like you’re waving at someone just by flipping the switch J I do have the hardware and all bolts for the entire front Aero assembly. I believe there’s a quick fix for it online somewhere, otherwise just get a new motor for it, they’re $50 or less.

Tires – the currently installed tires are in decent shape, but I would consider new ones in the somewhat near future.

Underneath it is mostly clean, but there is surface rust in some areas. The 2 jack points in front on the sides of the car (just below/behind the front wheels) have rusted through, but the floor pan is in mint condition from the top and bottom, very clean. Rear jack points are good. I have photos of everything, so please message me.

Front driver seat squeaks going over bumps, just needs some oil to lube certain areas.

Engine has a chirp while running (once warm), this is likely the belts or one of the pulleys, easy and cheap fixes for both. No lifter tick, no knocks or clanks, just a semi-audible chirp chirp chirp, reminiscent of an accessory belt on its way out.

A couple of the center caps are missing on the OEM rims.

Things I would do next if I was keeping the car (Sub-category):

Plasti-dip the car in balloon white or nardo gray with black accents and also plasti-dip the stock rims either black or gunmetal. This is done for less than $400-600 total if you do it yourself! Everything you need is at the dipyourcar site.

To be safe I’d swap all oils before Spring time – engine + K&N filter + magnetic Greddy drain bolt, transaxle/transmission, rear diff – ALL with Redline oils. This is done for less than $160 total for all 3. I have the link to purchase these oils, all from the same site.

Upgrade the stereo system and antenna.

Aftermarket alarm system w/ remote start

Light engine mods to increase boost and monitor A/F ratio. Cold air K&N filter. Manual boost controller and gauge. Blow off valve. Fix active aero switches in rear wing.

3.0” Downpipe and cat-delete, replaced with stainless steel flexible pieces.

Short shifter + shifter gate-travel mod done by modifying the points where it meets the transmission – done for $5 or less and about an hour of work. It’s right under the air filter box. Also, new shifter bushings, $40 and 30 minute install J

Front lip, rear diffuser add-on.

Snake eyes mod where the headlights turn on but they stay folded down, so the light comes through the front lenses under the headlights, looks amazing. This is basically a free modification.

Megan coil-overs to drop the car 2.5” for $160, fairly straight forward install and would vastly improve the overall aesthetic.

Window tints J
