Car description

Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this desirable MGA 1600 Roadster that was purchased out of a garage recently from it's selling family in Pennsylvania. This car was driven back in the 1970's on a regular basis until the father decided to repaint it. It went into the bodyshop for a fresh new red paint job, returned home, and then life got in the way and the car was never put back on the road.Bodywork on the car is quite decent with good gaps. It appeared to have new rockers replaced and dogleg repairs made before it was painted. The front fenders wheel archs were expertly "rolled-out" to accommodate the larger wheel set currently fitted and gives it a competition look. Paintwork is now older and is showing some lifting, chips, stains on the trunk lid, but still has a glossy and attractive appearance from 5-10 feet. The windshield is good. The large chrome items, like the grille, front and rear bumpers, have been quality replated and a set of 4 new overriders are included. Additionally, the steering wheel is new, along with a new set of sidecurtains, new black cloth tonneau cover, air cleaner set, door wood, horn push, etc.The car's interior was removed at the time of the paintjob with plans to retrim it. The seats are decent and ready for recovering. The dashboard was nicely and correctly painted and reinstalled with pretty instruments fitted. The car received a new plywood floor set, as original, and have been sealed up. There has been a few alterations from standard with some incisions in the sides of the trunk floor, and the rear tonneau interior dividing panel (from interior to the trunk) removed.Mechanically, I'm sure the car will at least needs braking and fuel system renewed to get it back driving. It's fitted with a very early MGB 1800cc "G" Series MK1 3-main engine with the early tach drive cable. The seller's daughter said it ran well and her father wasn't planning on doing any mechanical work to it. It currently turns nicely by hand and should run well...Overall, an attractive and decent MGA Roadster project with some new parts. This 1600 has the bonus of being fitted with a desirable, upgraded 1800cc unit. It's a good jumping off point to restore one of these popular MG's with good roadholding, robust mechanicals, and great styling.
