Car description |
---|
Cute red metal-dash MG Midget, with newly blasted/clear coated wire wheels, serviceable originaltrim and accessories. Acquired in 2016, I immediately purchased a few replacement items, then rolled it into protected storage where it awaits completion. Its (later)1275 motor can be heard running in a video I shot at that time. Clutch is not stuck, and the transmission does shift into all gears without difficulty. The car rolls freely. All the lights, instruments and horns work as they should. The floors were replaced at one time, not by me, and have held up well.Previous ownerreupholstered it in a wonderful period-appropriate roll & pleat red vinyl with white piping. Door cards, door straps, seats and rear trunk divider were done this way and after a good cleaning present very nicely.
Some body filler was used in the lower areas of the rear fenders, but the rockers and A pillar seem solid. For the restoration I purchased a tachometer wired negative ground, proper speedo, replacement carpet, red tonneau cover, new gas tank, four new tires and new washer and ignition switches.Grille and bumpers were sourced to create a nice toothy smile and complete the look front and rear. The paint is serviceable for a driver -- lots of chips and evidence of poor prep back in the day. I replaced the windshield with a driver-quality one in 2018 and have a new bottom seal to install. The top is presentable. You're welcome to take away some spare wire wheels and tubes from a 66 parts car stripped last year. One of those spares was used to transport the car and was NOT blasted orclearcoated.
Its previous owner loaded it with aftermarket tchotchke like a wood rimmed wheel (needs restoration) side marker lights, wholly inappropriate plastic American fender mirrors, hood pins, and a more recent horn set up operated through the steering wheel. All these items have been removed but will come with the sale.
Local pick up only. Delivery can be arranged within a reasonable distance of southern middle Tennessee for an additional fee, and only after an onsite inspection of the car. A dated Bill of Sale from Alabama signed by the original owner comes with the car. Titling not common in AL when this car last changed hands.I have the name and number for the previous owner if questions arise at your local DMV. The British Motor Heritage archivecertified it as originally white with a black interior. Last photo shows how great this car would look, going back to white while retaining the cool redgut currently in the car. Please do not bid if you have zero feedback, do not offer a contact number, or want me to hold the car indefinitely. Understand -- this car is not currently driveable--it must be trailered. Cheers and good luck.
