Car description |
---|
The cars story when I bought it then finished the repairs.
Here is a list from the person I purchased The car from in 2014, it took two years to to finish and now it runs like a top, just needs a smog. The fuel injection is carb and California legal with documentation . I don't live in a town with a smog station.
The MGB sits in my garage looking beautiful.
1976 MG MGB Convertible VIN: GHN5UG400669GFrom previous owner;
My tale:
In 2009 I DROVE the car in to get it smogged.
While the mechanic was fiddling with it, the head gasket blew.
Upon disassembly I was told it needed a rebuild.
The engine was rebuilt, a new clutch installed, and eventually put back in the car.
After more than three years of asking for my car to be finished I gave up and picked it up.
The repair shop owner claimed it was almost done except for two engine mount bolts not yet installed.
The distributor is not tightened down - I assume ready for timing - I do not have a timing light.
There is no oil
( this was not the case, it had break-in oil which in a new unrun motor is completely clear) new owner discovered
You may assume I was ripped off.
I drove a running car in for service and got back a car that is "almost" finished.
So after putting $30K in parts and more hours than I care to admit to into this car I am done.
Hopefully it will get a good home and I can get some garage space back.
If the car was running it would be worth $13-14,000.
The leather upholstery & carpet cost was $4,500 and the top was $3,500 from England.
The radio was more than $500 and I had to install it.
The Fuel Injection kit was more than $2,500 and the radiator I designed cost $1,000 to have made.
That is just a sample of what is into this car so check out the following list.
