Car description

1964 Mercury Monterey Marauder 2 door coupe. 390 cubic inch engine, manual 3 speed transmission with column shift. Manual steering. AM radio. Somewhat of a muscle car, for Mercury/Ford enthusiasts, who would like something a little rare. Lots of good trim, some has dings and can be repaired, RS 1/4 trim was attached years ago with screws. Hood script has damage. Only two dents in the whole car, RS 1/4 and RS rocker panel which got crunched pretty good. There may be some very small dings. Main issue as far as condition would be some rust out areas. on 1/4 panels, inside trunk lid, trunk floor, drivers side floor and battery tray area. Car has spent 30+ years in a barn, has issues common with vehicles that have been in storage for this length of time: Brakes not working. Fuel pump not working, entire fuel system should be overhauled. With fresh battery, {not included}, engine ran by cranking and adding some fuel directly to the carburetor intake, fuel line was temporarily routed into a gas can, so as not to ingest sediment from lines, tank, etc. Engine would only run only long enough for each prime of gas, {I didn't have a helper to crank it while adding fuel., had to alternate between cranking and adding fuel.} Engine cranks well, and has good spark. Overflow coolant tank has leak at lower pipe joint, can be soldered. Clutch pedal return spring is broken. Windshield has some wiper arm scratches, other than that, all glass is very good to excellent condition. Bumpers are not perfect, but look presentable for a driver, would need some work for a restoration level. Only a few things were altered: Aftermarket horn button mounted on lower left dash, may be some original parts missing from horn button, but there is the button center, {25th Mercury Anniversary} in very good condition. Wheels: LF: Crager SS 14", very good cond, missing center cap and one lug. -LR: Crager SS 14", wider than the front, missing center cap and one lug. Good cond. {all wheel studs are very good}. -RF: Early 50's mopar, 15" with prehistoric Pontiac hubcap which is rough. -RR: Ford 14", may have been the original spare, with original Marauder Hubcap. Tires hold air but are not roadworthy. Interior: Door panels are in good to very good cond., needs headliner and seat recover. Missing the carpet, but you can see the condition of the floor pans, nothing hidden. Missing these parts: Battery and battery tray, air filter, original air cleaner stud; lug wrench. 1 original hubcap. Lower RS front fender trim.------------- Loose parts, {see pics}; Two original hubcaps, one very good, the other fair cond. 10 original wheel lugs, very good cond, for LS; Original jack and hold-down parts; Original 25th annv. horn button, very good or better cond. The original build sheet; Two original Mercury keys with logo, one key for locking gas cap.
