Fantastic 1963 Mercury Comet S-22 Project Car, mostly complete and in good shape.
The factory Carnival Red paint would buff up beautifully over a solid car body. All body panels are straight. The chrome and trim also shine. There are minor dings and dents in chrome and body. One rust spot (worst) is featured in pictures.
The S-22 package was available only on the 2-door sedan, it was billed as a "sport" package, although it shared the same mechanicals as regular Comets, with the only changes being S-22 badging, bucket seats and acenter console.
VIN Decoded:3 = 1963H = Assembled - Lorain, OH17= Comet Special S-22 2 Dr Hardtop CoupeU = Engine 6-170 (This Car has a 200 CID 6 Straight)531888 = Production Sequence
Engine is not original to car it is a 200 CID Ford Straight Six engine. Engine has been overhauled and was running when placed into storage. Car has been stored since 2010. Exhaust system requires repairs, rear main seal requires replacement (New Seal leaked following Overhaul), transmission works, Floor Pans are in good shape, Worst body rust in pictures. All glass is in place. Interior Headliner requires repair. View pictures thoroughly before bidding. $500 deposit via PayPal required within 48 hours of auction end. Final payment by Cashiers Check or Cash In Person within 7 days of auction end.I will cancel the bids of bidder's that have "0" history with eBay. Please have someone with eBay history, bid for you if you have no eBay account. Thank you for your support in this area.
New Pictures Added: It was pointed out that a rust hole exists underneath the passenger firewall area. I added pictures of the hole, through the outer passenger fender well skin, but not through the firewall or structural member next to the area. Additional photos inside the trunk show no rust through on each side near the tail light panel. The wing nut for the jack is placed in each of these pictures for perspective. Please review all pictures before bidding. The vehicle is offered with nowarranty expressed or implied.
