Since the introduction of the 300SL roadster in 1957, the Mercedes SL name plate has been associated with the best of the best in open air motoring. To this day, the Mercedes SL masterfully combines quality, performance, elegance and style. 1981's 380SL was part of the legendary run from 1971 to 1989 that continued the SL's reign of success. The SL variant was a 2-seat convertible with standard soft top and optional hardtop. This particular year of SL was the R107 Chassis which replaced the W113 and then was later replaced by the R129. The R107 which was produced from 1971 through 1989, making it the second longest single series ever produced by Mercedes Benz.
