For sale 1992 500E VIN WDBEA36E2NB750727
~235,000 miles still quick and confident past 145MPH.
This is a no rust and only one minor accident (damage to the front bumper) North Carolina car that has been in Michigan only 3 years but never on the road during winter and never driven in the snow.
Maintained for almost 15 years of it's life by Randy Jensen Motorworks (Mercedes only repair) in Greensboro North Carolina. It was Randy's personal car. That said this is a car for someone who wants to restore this amazing collaboration between Mercedes Benz and Porsche who was responsible for a significant amount of the build of the 500E. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_500_E
This 500E is my summertime driver and other than the A/C that leaks down I would drive it anywhere. The last long trip it made, Detroit to New Jersey and back, it seldom was under 70 MPH/ 112KPH and the 500E will roll through Pennsylvania without even breathing hard.
This is without a doubt a car for someone who restore and maintain a car with incredible character. Even at this mileage this 500E can work through traffic with solid footed decisiveness, low profile and complete comfort.
Things that work;
- Motor runs strong (chains replaced at 136,000)
- Transmission works well
- No rust
- Front suspension rebuilt 2016
- Brakes 2017
- Mid 2000s Repaint still shows well
Things that need attention;
- A/C does not hold a charge
- Will need exhaust system soon
- Headliner delaminated, needs replacing
- Rear suspension bushings need replacing. New Lemforder set of rear suspension links included.
- Interior center console wood trim panels need replacing.
- Drivers seat need insert resewing.
This is a great car for someone who wants to work on their own restoration, know the car and enjoy the incredible engineering in this unique vehicle. Replacement parts for drivetrain and body are affordable and there is a great community around these cars.
In addition to the Lemforder rear suspension arms, four original wheels are included, a 400E first gear start valve body, a new set of H&R lowering springs, a stock radio and some additional extra filters.
