Gorgeous Almost fully Restored Rare 1980 Mercedes 280CE Up for your consideration this loved and well-cared for 1980 Mercedes 280ce. This is a very rare gas model and not many of these running around anymore. I purchased this car more than two years ago on eBay and so far I have spent more than $11k on restoring this gorgeous car. I put a lot of time. sweat. nbsp;and love into it and now it is time to let go and let someone else continue with the fun. I’m going to list some of the works that has been done. but rests assure that I will forget some other repairs done to it. Exterior: This car had a new silver paint job to match the original color. The two front doors panels had a little bit of rust at the bottom(it is so common to have this in these cars). So I bought a completely rust free two door from sunny California. In addition. I just replaced the front windshield rubber gasket seal and had it shipped to me from Germany. The car has two front tires with less than 100 miles on them. I just replaced the headlights with new European look headlights which made the car looks even more stunning. Moreover. a new hood panel lining was just replaced as you see in the photo. Interior: The interior was completely reconditioned and rear reclining seats were professionally reupholstered. All the wood trim was completely replaced. The shifting gear was replaced with a more attractive wood knob. The steering wheel was replaced with an Italian and more sleek steering wheel. The dash board had some crakes so I had it professionally covered with a cap then dyed to completely match the interior. The carpet was completely replaced by OEM carpeting. I just installed new Pioneer cd stereo with IPhone/iPod connection and new speakers. The rear panel that holds the back speakers was completely replaced with a new one. New air filter. new fuel pump. new rear brake line. Mechanics: The car had new battery and alternator. In addition. I just replaced the front and rear shocks. front arm controls. and back sway bar. Moreover. a new fuel pump was put in. new rear brake line. the brakes pads and rotors were just replaced by previous owner. I also had new tune up with new spark plugs and spark plugs wires. new filters. The oil always replaced with synthetic oil. Two new front tires with less than 100 miles on them The car runs. drives. shifts. very smooth and without any hesitations and like a champ. very fast on the high and you would not believe the way this car handles. You will not believe that this is a 35 years old stunner. As stated before I had invested more than $11k. I have loved this car. but now I have no more time to spend on it. There are few things that this car will need. A/C expansion valve will need to be replaced and it is sold on eBay for $21. the A/C blows but not cold; my mechanic informed me that the expansion valve is bad. You can also replace the rear back tires; the side rubber seals on back coupe windows could be changed. The sunroof works and I can hear the motor but it is not latching on. so it is not opening. The passenger and back coupe window are controlled by one fuse. for some reason this fuse keeps blowing. I do not know why? Very tiny oil spot was noted in my garage. This car has always been garaged in door. Remember this is a 35 year old car and it needs a little bit of work to make it new. It is a stunner and a head turner everywhere you go. If you are serious. I would advise to have your mechanic inspect it to have a peace of mind. I have placed the reserve very below cost and at a reasonable price. Serious buyers only please.
