Up for auction is my W123 1985 Mercedes 230TE “Gasser” wagon. not a diesel ! This beautiful vintage Estate is in superb condition. way above average for an ’85. The engine is the original 2. 3L gas motor with 5 speed manual transmission. engine is rated at 134hp and good for 28-30 mpg highway and currently has 240k miles and runs flawlessly. This is the same motor found in the 190 series sedans therefore parts are readily available and mostly interchangeable between the two models. I had the car repainted a year ago in its original factory color and the interior of the car is in spectacular condition for its age. The car has zero rust. never had any. There are no rips in any of the seating surfaces and headliner is in beautiful condition. The dash has custom molded blue cover which perfectly matches the interior and looks factory. All glass is intact. Being that it is a true European Grey market model. the car comes with some unique options which were only available in Europe: cloth interior as opposed to the MBtex vinyl found in US bound wagons. smaller bumpers giving the car much cleaner lines than the large DOT bumpers. dual frequency Alpine horn. manual sliding sunroof. "city lights" as well as built-in fog/driving lamps in factory headlights. and lastly a rear driver’s side fog light. Other options are power windows. air conditioning. vacuum central locking system. adjustable headlights. and self-leveling rear suspension. all in functional condition. The car has no issues and can be driven anywhere. It comes with some of the original dealer service stamps from Germany. and I will also include a complete set of original wheels with chrome MB star hubcaps. wheels do need refurbished but they are the correct wheels for this car. This is a beautiful example of a vintage Mercedes which would be a wonderful acquisition for any fanatic Benz collector. This is one of only a few existing 230TE gas wagons in the US and a rare opportunity to purchase and own one.
