Car description

Up for sale is a 1986 300E with an extremely rare manual 5 speed transmission. It is being sold with NO RESERVE so please only bid if you are prepared to buy and have researched shipping costs ahead of time. I prefer in person pick-up. I’ve had this car for about 4 years and it’s time to move on to a new toy. It’s in “driver” condition and is very mechanically sound. The engine has a lot of power, clutch is strong, suspension and steering nice and tight. Tires nearly new. Basically everything works except the clock. Cold AC and hot heat, and air blows out the correct vents. The AC does need a topping up at the beginning of the season, but it stays cold all summer. Sunroof and windows work. ABS even works. Some of the windows are slower than others, but they all work. Cruise control works for the most part. It’s a good driver. I have put over 20000 miles on it since I’ve had it including cross country trips. I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. Body and paint is decent but it has its fair share of patina. There are some rust holes starting to form in the rear wheel wells, and some rust is starting in other places too. The interior is presentable, but shows signs of age as seen in pictures. You can see all that in the pics. Please carefully check out the pics and video as they really tell the story.

I have replaced many things and spent thousands of dollars since I’ve had the car. I had set out on a path to restore it but ended up deciding to go a different direction. I did all of the rear suspension links/control arms as well as all shocks and springs. I have changed the fluids including the brake fluid, power steering fluid, rear differential fluid, transmission fluid, oil and proper Zerex G-05 coolant. I’ve had a full tune up done -to it including plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil and a fuel pump relay just as a safety precaution. I even replaced the little wipers on the headlights which work fine. I have a good headlight to replace the cracked one and that will go with the car. Most of the brake system has been replaced, including rotors, pads and hoses, with new calipers as needed. New CV axles as needed, and so much more I am completely forgetting. I took pics of some of the repair orders so you can get an idea of the level of work that was put into this car.

What's wrong with it? A few things. Odometer is broken so mileage estimate of 210K is approximate. It is true mileage unknown. The engine seeps some oil, mainly from the front timing cover seals and other seals. There is a hole in the top of the muffler. There is some rust starting, and in some places has started to make holes, such as in the rear wheel wells. Listen to the youtube video for more details and see the pictures. The radiator fan is inop, but I have never allowed the car to overheat. The battery is about 3 years old and questionable, but it will take a charge at the moment.

I believe this to be a good car that you can safely drive anywhere, but I do not offer any kind of warranty or guarantee. By placing a bid, you agree that you are satisfied with the condition of the car. You are welcome to inspect and drive the car prior to placing a bid. It’s never sat longer than 2 weeks while in my possession. I’ve always kept it exercised and always drove it enough to get it up to full operating temperature.

Paypal deposit of $500 due within 24 hours of auction close. Balance due within 7 days via bank wire or cash in person upon pickup. I prefer it be paid for and picked up within 3 days of auction close but will work with you. Please plan on coordinating with me so this transaction can be concluded smoothly and promptly. Stating the obvious, please understand you are bidding to buy so please only bid if you want the vehicle and have the money available. **PLEASE NOTE** Although I believe this to be a good car, it doesn't come with any kind of warranty, expressed or implied. It is an old car and anything can happen at any time.
