Nicknamed de Panzerwagen for weighing in at more than 3. 00 pounds. the new SL for model year 1972 was a completely new body. with new luxury and safety refinements. A completely redesigned engine was housed underneath the hood. a 4. 5 liter SOHC V8 mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission. By the late 1970's and early 1980's Mercedes-Benz had to meet constant changing emissions controls. therefore. causing lower compression and lower horsepower. For 1985 Mercedes-Benz upped the performance of the SL by placing their new 5. 6 litre V8 engine into the car. bringing performance back to where it should have been. Introduced in Summer of 1985. the 560SL’s new 5. 6 litre aluminum engine gave more horsepower and higher compression and smoother power output. The SL was given the performance it needed and with sales exceeding expectations the 560SL continued to be the reigning king of the luxury roadsters. European Motor Studio is proud to offer this exceptional 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SL Roadster finished in Anthracite Metallic with Grey leather interior. This SL left the Stuttgart production line in June of 1987 and invoiced to Mercedes-Benz North America. The car sold new to its first owner on October 15. 1987 at Park Place Mercedes-Benz in Omaha Nebraska. The car has only 2 owners from new and was purchased by the 2nd owner in 2012 when the first owner traded the car into Mercedes-Benz of Omaha. The car then made its way to Scottsdale AZ where it has been ever since. This beautiful SL has traveled a mere 81. 30 miles from new and is fully documented. This car comes with a clean and clear title and Carfax and a Box A actual miles title. The beautiful original Anthracite Grey paint shows remarkably well with very few flaws. There are a few small stone chips in the front nose of the car and in the front hood by the Mercedes badge. The rest of the paint has a beautiful shine with no fade or damage. All of the rubber and chrome are in excellent condition only showing minimal wear. The aluminum door trims around the windows are showing some hazing. All of the original Mercedes glass shows very well without any cracks or damage. The interior is in outstanding condition showing almost no signs of wear. The leather on both the drivers and passengers seats are still very soft and supple and only show very lite creasing on the bolsters. All of the carpets are in excellent condition and show only lite wear. the dash in excellent and does not have the typical cracking or separation. The wood is very nice showing lite fade in color but no signs of cracking or damage. All of the gauges appear to be working and reading correctly. All of the electronics in the car are operating as designed including the original Becker radio. power antenna (sometimes does not fully retract) windows. power mirror. cruise control. all of the interior and exterior lights are operating and the AC and heater are operating as designed. The convertible top is original and in excellent condition. free from any tears or rips. The hardtop is in excellent condition and does show very lite damage to the two chrome pieces on the edges where it meets the body of the car. This SL starts right up and runs and drives superb. It idles with ease and does not smoke or leak. It accelerates very strongly through all of the gears and is very smooth through the RPM range. The transmission shift with ease and free from any issues. The brakes and suspension feel excellent and do not squeak or rattle. The steering is nice and tight and does not drift or vibrate. The car has brand new Michelin tires on all four corners. This SL comes with its original factory tool roll. original key for the hardtop and softop. original Huff cut Mercedes-Benz key. all of its original factory books. service books. warranty books. dealer books and care books including the original data plate and build card. The factory spare tire is present with the car including its original Mercedes tag for the spare tire. This is an outstanding running and driving 560SL that has been exceptionally well cared for throughout its entire life. No signs of any prior damage or repair work on the car and absolutely no rust anywhere.
