Car description |
---|
This is a vintage/classic car, ready for you to convert to vegetable oil if you desire. It is the W115 body, which makes it a rarity; I have only seen one other in town. I am the third owner. It spent the first 40 years of it's life in Southern California so there is no rust and the body is in excellent condition. Unfortunately I moved back to Oregon and I don't have a place to park it indoors, and I feel like it is not getting the love and care it deserves sitting out under a cedar tree. It runs great and is very reliable. I was hoping it would be my son's some day, but I just need to face the fact that I don't have time/room for a car that isn't being driven every day.
The Good:
Body is in great shapeInterior and truck is in great shape. A few rips in driver seat and arm rest (see pics)
Runs well, no mechanical/engine issues.
Low miles: odometer says 63,000, previous owner claimed it was 150,000, so even if you add some extra and call it 265,000 the engine is only halfway through it's life. This particular car is known as the "million mile engine," google it
30 MPG, not bad for a 40-year-old car
Easy to work on--that's part of the reason I bought it, I like to do my own work when I can. Therefore...
Comes with specialized tools. I have a set of custom wrenches, so you can do the valves and change the oil etc. Plus 2 manuals and a box or two of assorted parts for maintenance
New Bosch injectors
New stereo, including bluetooth mic for hands-free phone calls
The Bad:
There is some minor fender damage, I tried to show a picture. It was like that when I bought it. Hardly noticable
The seats are starting to give out. This is extremely common with this car at it's age. Personally doesn't bother me, but you might need to add some cushioning at some point.
Needs a new A/C belt. If frayed last year so I cut it off because...
The A/C needs recharging. The A/C motor and vacuum switch still actually work, but there is no juice inside.
The climate control has issues. This is truly the only complaint I have about this car: getting the air to be warm/cold is a finicky process. If I had time this would be the first thing I addressed on this car. Also, the blower motor just stopped working and I haven't diagnosed if it's just the switch or if the motor conked. That would not be an uncommon situationat this age.
Lastly, the hood ornament came off, but I still have it. Looks like an easy enough fix but bodywork-type stuff is not my forte.
So anyways there you have it. I hope you can make a nice home for this awesome ride. It really drives like no other car I've ever been in--like a pad of butter gliding on a warm pancake!
All shipping costs are paid by the buyer, but I am happy to help coordinate shipping to your area.
Thanks for looking andPLEASE feel free to ask any questions you might have.
