1985 Mercedes 300CD Turbocharged Diesel. W123 Chassis. Very Nice.

Description

Located, and subsequently recommissioned from aeleven year sleep, sitting in a climate controlled warehouse amongst a collection of American classic cars, this Mercedes W123C Turbodiesel 300CD coupe was a exceptional and rare find.
Defined as having "timeless poise and grace" by Hagerty Classic Cars, it was intensely popular at the time of original sale, with a waiting list of well over one year, to which theystill hold their sway in desire-ability, and are very difficult to find today that have little or no rust, or mechanical issues.
This 1985 model was at its zenith and end of their production, having been produced from 1978 and ultimately refined in the 1985 model. They are now considered highly collectible and renowned for their qualityand longevity, capable of well over a half million miles of service is well maintained.
a five cylinder fuel efficient 2998 cc Turbocharged diesel engine,and coupled to a reliable four speed automatic transmission, its starts, runs and drives wonderfully, with with no unusual noises or smoke.
After much sorting, and cleaning, its was comprehensively and recently serviced inclusive of four new Toyo 195/70/14 radial tires, alignment, new brakes, complete brake fluid flush, new Bosch alternator, new Mercedes exhaust and muffler, wheel bearing, Interstate battery, all new oils, transmission service, fuel filters, oil filter, antifreeze flush and replace, and air conditioning service (updated to the newer 134 freon). The A/C blows very cold.
All electrical functions work as originally designed, inclusive of the cruise control, power windows, switches power sunroof, lights, windshield wipers, turn signals, etc. Itsoriginal radio has been replaced by a Sony Am/Fm C/D player andthe speakers updated. The cigarette lighter is inoperative and this is a non-smoking vehicle.The 300CD's body and Smoke Silver Metallic paint are in very nice condition with no signs of rust or previous body damage, with the exception of a small spot on the lower left rear license plate bolt, and a small edge at the left front valance seam below the front bumper. The floors, doors, trunk, rockerand quarter panels are all in excellent original condition. Stainless trim and chrome are in excellentcondition.
The Mercedes Palomino upholstery interior shows little or no wear, with nice carpets, door panels, headliner etc. Minor cracking does appear in some of the wood grainclear coat trim, and there is a minor trim separation/shrinkage at the intersection of the right rear interior panel where it meetsthe quarter windowweatherstrip. The rest of the Mercedes interior is in excellent condition.
In conclusion, this is a gorgeous, and very originaluncorrupted driver quality Mercedes Coupe thatanyone would be proud to own. It garners a tremendous amount of attention when on the road and is certainly unique among allthe prosaic, un-interesting and common cars which populate our roads today.
The 1985 Mercedes 300CD will be sold as is, where is, with nowarranty expressed or implied. I strongly suggest personal inspection, or by a qualified representative of your choosing prior to purchase. Inspections as acondition of saleafter auction end will not be allowed.
