Car description |
---|
Here is a really nice California kept 1986 560SL. Anthracite with a medium red interior. This car is a all original 2 owner car with absolutely no paint work or stories of any kind. A complete binder of service history from new is included. As far as 560SL's go, this car has a excellent service history with no deferred maintenance in its' life. The car runs and drives great and everything works. When I mean everything works, I mean every dash and console light, antenna, even every lcd in the original Becker radio.
The exterior of the car is in great shape, with a even 3-4 mils thickness on the paint, indicating no paint work. There is no clearcoat issues of any kind. Absolutely no rust or corrosion. Paint is excellent and is more akin to a 30k mile car in lieu of a 80k mile car. The interior is also super nice, with no cracked dash, beautiful veneers, zero bolster wear. If you are familiar with these cars, you would know that the red interiors tend to generally be a little harder and less plush than the lighter colors, not the case in this car. Most people get in the car and think the seats have been restuffed because they are so plush. I tell them they have never been a "real" SL. That's how they are supposed to be.
As far as maintenance history, which is most important in these cars, this one has it all. You wouldn't marry a woman without knowing her for a day, would you? This car tells all.
Please, if you do not buy this car, do not buy a 560 with the original chain and guides. They degrade with age and not time. Be it a 2000 mile garage queen or a 200,000 long hauler. They all break, and these are interference motors, which means you will need a new motor. This is a big job and make sure it is done, otherwise, you are driving a grenade, does not sound like a good idea to me!
So, the chain and rails are done, as well as the motor mounts and subframe mounts. Same story, degrade with age. If anyone has a SL with original mounts and tell you they are fine, they are telling you a story. I've been through over 100 SL's in my life, and while no expert, I know more than enough to be dangerous.
Don't let the 80K miles scare you, this car looks, drives, and was better maintained than most 20k mile SL's
A great summer car with a perfect original hard top and soft top.
Car comes with 3 keys, window sticker, maintenance log, all service history, ect.
A true diamond for a fair price.
Car is for sale locally and auction can and will be ended at any time. Call me at 773 621-4087 and ask away on the questions! I love talking SL's!
If you want a low cost, mickey mouse car, this is not it. This is truly a investment grade car with no excuses, not a pig in lipstick that I see on ebay all the time.
PERFECT CARFAX AND AUTOCHECK
On a final note, I replaced the chrome wheels with the factory alloys. You can have the chrome wheels, but I don't like them. Heck, take both sets. $1,000 set of Michelins on this car.
