Car description |
---|
Very rare Mercedes 6.9 Euro model. I imagine most that are looking at this ad will have some idea what that means. This car has 66k miles and has had one owner in the US. It was imported in 1985 from Italy. At the time of import the car had 40644 miles as shown on the original title. The owner at the time also owned a 4.5 450se and used the 6.9 ocassionally. At some point the car was stored and not driven much eventually not at all. When I found the car it had been sitting idle for several years in the owners garage.
Condition is good certainly not perfect. The car does run and drive. Before starting the car I removed the fuel tank and associated parts. Fuel tank was clean and resealed, fuel distributor and WUR were sent to CIS injection and rebuilt. New fuel pump, filter, accumulator and lines were installed. At this point the car is running and driving, doesn't show any signs of leakage. Hydraulic suspension is working with no signs of leaks but does need new accumulators as the ride is stiff.
The chassis And body are very solid. some surface rust and bubbling around the sunroof opening which is easily repairable. Only a few other minor bubbles under the paint in other places. The jack holes and undercarriage are in amazing condition.
Interior is th Euro blue velour and is exceptional. Dash is perfect and has the original Becker Stereo.
So all in all this car is something special. Certainly needs some restoration but well worth the effort. I have owned two other W116 cars in my life and I knew what I was looking for and this car is it. I unfortunately have other things to attend to and need to pass this car along.
I have tried to give a clear picture of what this cars condition is. Please be considerate with your questions and read the description thoroughly.
