Car description

1983 was the last year of the 240D and this is a fine example of an original vehicle ready for the next stage of its life. I have for sale my mother's hard to find 1983 Mercedes 240D with 4-speed manual transmission in good original condition.

The car was ordered special through MB's European Delivery Program for my mother's 50th birthday visit to Germany and has provided reliable transportation for 33 years. It has been my daily driver for the past 4 years and gets 25-30 miles per gallon.

This creme yellow manual transmission diesel sedan includes sunroof, central locking system, manual windows, original radio, and a tan MB-Tex interior along with original owner's manuals, first aid kit, tool kit, and full spare and jack. A/C was checked in January 2014; it held a vacuum but has no freon. Cruise control stopped working in 2015.

Mileage on this vehicle is 162,805. New Michelin Defender tires purchased in 2013 have less than 15K on them. Car starts easily (use OEM block heater in Fall/Winter)and shifts perfectly. Battery works great. Thermostat replaced June 2016. In February - May 2008 replaced clutch master cylinder, left lower ball joint, resealed rear differential, and hood pad. In April 2011 replaced engine and trans mounts, shifter bushing, engine stabalizer, front and rear shocks. In June 2013 replaced lock servo. This vehicle is sold as is and where is.

Two items need replacement: water pump leaks fluid and driver side rear control arm.

Paint and body are in good shape for a 34 year old vehicle. It has never been wrecked; but has a couple of smallsurface rust and bubbled spots (see pictures). More pictures are available and can be sent on request. Please note I took these pictures after vacuuming and the car HAS NOT been professionally detailed.

Since my parents have died and the kids have their own transportation, we have more cars than drivers and no room to keep them; and according to my wife it MUST go regardless of its rarity.

Not many Manual Drive cars are available. Fun to drive, this 240D needs someone to run her.
