1961 Mercdes-Benz 220 S(barn find in the desert)

You are looking at a 1961 Mercedes 220S FIN TAIL that has been sitting inthe yard of the Tucson desert off and on for about 20 yrs.Owner claimed it ran about 6m ago (not driven but ran) We pouredsome gas down the carbs, ranked it over with a remote starter switchand it ran for about 6-10 seconds The motor sounded good and didnteven smoke from sitting so long. Thats as far as we got with it. So thecar is obviously being sold As Is as a project. But the good news is the motorshouldnt be an issue and it wont need weeks of metal / rot / rust repair.The Az desert has beat up the vinyl, lastic etc which is obvious, ut I believethe white paint / patina is whats left of all or most of the original paint.The car roll, urns and steers easy enough for loading onto a hauler forshipping. Comes with keys and Az title.Mileage shows aprox 42k on it which could be original.BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Great body with minimal rust thanks to spendingmost of its life in either CA or AZ.Very complete for its age, ot 100% but pretty close.Car wont crank with key, ut cranks easy with the remote starter.Glass is really dirty and old with remnants of old window tint glueon the inside. Front windshield has bubbles in it from age hard to seein the pics.Car comes with the original owners manuel, nd other books that wherein the glovebox, s well as a stack of receipts from 20 yrs ago or morefrom the previous owners too. We try to show all the areas well inthe 100+ pics below.Desert SW cars are time capsules and the best kind to own !DRIVETRAIN:best we can tell its still the original matching #s straight 6(which as mentioned prior we heard run about 6 seconds) Matted tothe motor is a factory 4 spd on the tree. Looks fairly completebut Im sure will need some work to get back on the road esp to thehydraulic systems including brake work.Im confident the motor is good. The car was parked many yrs ago justdue to the fact the owner bought a newer car and just parked it.

INTERIOR:take a look at the pics, lthough very complete even with thefront center filler for the bucket seats, ts pretty beat. It will needa full interior job. When I step on the floors they feel solid from theInside as well as they look from under the car (see pics) Dr door latchacting funny and doesnt always want to latch. The original red leatheris very old, rittle and sun beat.

EXTERIOR: the body is very straight and clean for being OVER 50 yrs old, ould be hardpressed to find one this clean, his old, or the reserve price we have on thisGerman classic. Its far from perfect, ut it would restore easier then most thisold. All the stainless trim etc looks to be accounted for as well. Grill does showsome damage. Chrome on the bumpers, ot so good.

SUSPENSION: basically bone stock suspension that looks to be mostlyOriginal, ires are holding air too. If it really has 42k miles on it it may bein better shape then we know about. Being as the car has been in Az andCA so long, inimal rust if any underneath other then surface.
