This is a restored 1961 Mercedes 190b Ponton sedan with 86,684 original miles documented by service records which came with the car. The previous owner stated that the car was purchased in Germany by a US serviceman who returned with it to California where it remained until I purchased the car in 2008. I believe I am the fourth owner. The car was shipped to New Hampshire and spent two years undergoing restoration. It has been driven less than 1,000 miles since the restoration was completed. For the last seven years, he car has been stored during winter and NEVER driven in the snow. The body was disassembled and stripped to bare metal (the underbody was left untouched to show off the original gray paint with only minor surface rust here and there). The body is absolutely straight and 100 percent rust free. When down to bare metal, e found evidence of an early minor crease in the front right fender, hich had been professionally repaired. The bumpers have been rechromed and the aluminum body trim has been sanded, uffed and refinished. All other chrome is original and in excellent condition. The body was repainted with epoxy primer and finished with three coats of DuPont Chroma Premier single stage enamel (color LS 126) with wet sanding between coats. The trunk and wheel wells were finished in black epoxy paint. B-Quiet sound deadening material has been added to the doors, he roof and behind the rear seat to reduce road noise and vibration. Wooden dash trim has been refinished with hand-rubbed oil. The OE chrome beauty rings included on the wheels were an available accessory when the car was sold. The restoration includes many new parts:StarterMotor mountsMuffler, esonator and exhaust pipeGas tank filter screenBilstein shock absorbersUnder-hood heat shield / sound proofing blanketFender-mounted side markersHeadlinerUpholsteryCoco floor matsRetro-look digital radioUnder-dash OEM Mercedes speakers in podsRadio antennaLeather steering wheel coverBosch dual hornsFresh air intake ductsDriver side mirrorRunning board matsDoor seals and assorted other gaskets / rubberTrunk mats and trunk sealWindow channelsFront and rear window gasketsBF Goodrich wide white wall tiresAll hoses and hose clampsThe carburetor, istributor and fuel pump have been rebuilt and the radiator has been re-cored. The mechanical fuel pump has been augmented by an electric fuel pump. The original tool kit is in excellent condition. The engine runs strong and is quite responsive for a four-cylinder. Valve clearance has been recently adjusted. Transmission is four speed manual shift on the steering column. There are small dents in the tops of the fenders where my exuberant (ex)mechanic overflexed the hood (see pictures). The rubber floor mats are original and in very good condition for their age; however, he rear mat has a tear over the tunnel. The rear-view mirror has some de-silvering around the edges but the chrome is in excellent condition. The window washer fluid bag is new, ut the original cap is not holding pressure and needs to be reworked/replaced.The car comes with some assorted spare parts and hardware, ncluding matching-color sheepskin front seat covers. The reserve on this car is less than half the amount I have invested in it. I am selling because I have two other Mercedes cars that need my time and attention, nd this car is spending most of its time in storage these days. Please ask any and all questions before you bid; I urge you to inspect this car in person in Francestown, H, f you are seriously interested. This car is for sale locally, o the listing may be terminated prior to the close. The winning bidder will need to make a non-refundable $500 deposit via Paypal within three days of the end of the auction.
