Car description |
---|
Unrestored original 1989 Range Rover Classic Series, County Edition. This is a solid, California rust-free Short wheelbase model since sold new in Southern California, with the desirable EXPEDITION Level IV configuration. Runs and drives well for a vintage Classic SWB.
The iconic andultra-classic Range Rover. Unexpected expenses from wife's pregnancy force reluctant sale.
Factory stock 3.9L engine runs excellent, with plenty of torque. Reportedly a CROWER camshaft and lifter kit was installed in it, along with a valve job and also head-gasket work, but as I do not have invoices to document it, it is sold with stated mileage and condition as noted. Replaced water pump, radiator and some other ancillary items. Stainless steel exhaust.Extensive suspension work done, to include over $2000 in front-end work alone, plus:* New front factory LR heavy-duty springs* Front OME struts* New rear TERRAFIRMA HD springs* New rear BILSTEIN struts
RUST FREE chassis, floorboards, doors, door sills, wheelwells, doors, trunk floor, tailgate and rear hatch ( a common problematic area). Original Chamonix white still shines nicely despite being thirty years old! Remnants of pinstriping ( in true 1980s fashion) can be easily removed if desired. Bits of double-sided tape are still seen in some of the wheel arches from aftermarket trim being removed.
Very interesting, unusual SWB Classic, custom-made for the then-operating LR franchise in Santa Monica ( Homburg Land Rover). The seats are in excellent condition, with ZERO rips, splits or wear spots anywhere. New headliner and dome lights. Original carpeting and door panels. Unusual factory-installed battery cut-off in front dash, along with a cigarette-lighter delete, and dual flip-down cup holders.
This straight, Classic unrestored Range Rover would make an excellent base for a mild concours restoration, an overlander or just drive it as it is. Gets tons of looks and turns heads even from $120K Range Rover drivers!

An alternate method of payment can be done via bank wire transfer to my local CHASE Bank branch here in town. It is a very simple process, and it helps expedite delivery of the car.
Unlike the vast majority of sellers who advertise what they do not know ( let alone some sketchy car dealer!), I am a lifelong Land Rover enthusiast and still own four others ( a 2010 Supercharged, a 1996 Discovery I overlander, a 1987 Range Rover Classic SWB, and a 1966 109).
I have owned Land Rovers my whole life, various models and vintages, and know all their quirks well.
My reputation and feedback speak for themselves. Why buy from a source of questionable or minimal feedback ( usually for a reason), some shady car dealer type that knows nothing about these cars, or some other uninformed party?
This Landy is home in sunny California, awaiting love and restoration by a new LR enthusiast.
