this is the nicest polite land rover santana 88 inch swb i have ever owned. and i have owned over 240 at least.i ship all over the world.for me..ORIGINAL IS EVERYTHING. if its not for you no problem. your choice. we all have choices.i buy only spoilt original examples..i love their history.. dents and all. and i drive them from spain to uk. over 2000 miles of slow noise.but in this case..i drove this towing another 88 inch santana on an A frame. pulled like a train. heheheheei even hit 60 mph downhill in france..this swb diesel is a late 1978, born 02-10-1978 and one owner all its life until a few months ago.an ESPECIAL MODEL. the civilian posh version.look at the alloy finisher on the lower edges.they normally fell off after a few years. but not this unit.tells me lots about the use off the vehicle. finding the alloy finishers still in tact. this one still has the dealers tag on front grill and rear window and mud flaps..41 years old mudflaps.this is also the only santana that the screen wash still works. little bits mean original.painted probably once or twice in its life. uva dries paint in hotter climates.88 inch wheel base you know. so allow me to tell you what you dont know.i am an engineer not a sales person so i talk nuts and bolts not shiny smiles.the spanish call it the later green block..the best 2250 diesel engine for series land rover.in fact they where military spec units from uk, 5 bearing engines and with santana drive gears instead of timing chain.santana lucas injection pump. 20% more power than uk models due to the huge hills in spain.decent brakes for a land rover.BEFORE SELLING..WE GO THROUGH THE WHOLE VEHICLE. photo evidence of everything we do.i really do make sure your trip from the docks is going to be safe and enjoyable.
YOU WILL HAVE BRAKES-STEERING-ELECTRICS-WATER IN COOLING SYSTEM AND EXHAUST.i see some other advertising and i would not drive to the end of my road in some which look shiney.in uk we call it outside angel..dirty underwear and clean trousers.this unit has..light easy steering..try saying that with a uk series land rover. steering lock nice too.unique water drains on hard top which work perfectly..like drains from the roof of an old church..the rear door has both hinges on the lower body.so with roof off...its only nuts and bolts to take roof off..the rear has a door still..front springs are new..within the last two years..rear are original and nice comfy worn feeling..sometimes replacements knock your fillings out driving.this unit has had expensive free wheeling hubs fitted from new. work fine..lighter steering..saves on tyre wear..drives better..this one has the big santana interior heater and demister works..windows all slide.engine is awesome original condition..needs nothing..good clutch and nice easy tight gearbox.now these land rovers are inspected twice a year by DMV in spain. this one november to may..then may to november..all old documents with sale including the current original clear title.miles of 45,000 odd is correct and in keeping. 60,000 km on speedo.
wheels and tyres i like to personally fit land rover defender modern wheels and tyres on my santana,s they drive much smoother..of course the original ones are available with decent tyres..buyers choice.but for road use..the defender wheel and tyre 7.50x16 is better.i have put photos of both for you to choose. for off road..go for original..land rover got it right first go.

photos just taken off the ramp with dummy fuel tank while we await a brand new tank..the old one looked damp..we where turning it round for tank replacement.
2nd december. new tank arrived and already fitted..not only that, i cut off the old fuel tank cross members and fitted new ones front and back..no use fitting an expensive new fuel tank if it sits on old metal..
this can come as is with 7 seats..clean and tidy as photos or better.can come as convertible or pick up..do ask.can be upgraded in any way budget depending.
personally, i would get in and drive it..can be shipped before xmas so santa has it in your drive.be quick..we have about 3 days work left before shipping but it could already be booked on boat.

so what is this one.a land rover santana 88 inch swb left drive diesel 7 seater. on the button.minus 4 this morning..both our santana diesel first time start after heat 15 seconds.4 speed manual stick shift. nice gearbox. high and low ratio with good diff-lock facility.good clutch. no inherent transmission noises or clunks..currently a 7 seater with original seats..rear seats are easy to remove when original units used. no nuts and bolts.driving seats are original and covered. like a comfy pair of old shoes.2 speed wipers.2 speed fan. nice heater. nice dash area. oil pressure gauge still works.wipers and indicators work fine.glass is good. door window sliders are poor..we buy them by the foot..normally 12 foot of slider front back and sides. we can supply this..even fit it at hours cost..easy job takes about 5 hours.doors are good..rear door good. has to be strong to hold the heavy spare wheel.
roof is safari..another outer layer to keep air space on roof..cool in summer..no condensation in winter.recent both footwells in steel replaced. common..normally just fixed but i tend to cut them out and replace.neater job that way.floors are alloy panels. no sound deadening nor carpet.
engine is original numbers matching. 2250 cc diesel. 5 bearing crank with later starter motor and alternator.radiator good as is all the hoses. fuel system comes with new fuel tank..fittings..and all filter and sediment bowls and filters replaced. our pleasure.at least one spare wheel will be supplied. a good battery will be supplied.steering and hub swivels checked and serviced. all oils will be checked and changed if required.propshafts will be checked and serviced. important..people forget propshafts.
brakes will be taken apart and serviced. whatever it needs it gets. they feel fine after the epic drive but i still wont sell one unless i strip and inspect. brake fluid will be changed.
i do all this included in the price..really for my piece of mind not yours.no excuses, all i know is hard work and i have every tool known to man in my little workshop. i have a dedicated land rover 88 inch service ramp.
