Car description |

Offered at auction here is a 1988 Land Rover Defender 90 with factory Left Hand Drive. It was recently imported from Italy and has a clear Virginia title in owner's name, all customs paperwork available. Overall very good condition for age with many cool accessories, 2.5TD engine. Color is the somewhat less common Trident Green, odometer shows 256391 kilometers or 159288 miles. VIN is SALLDVAB8EA347267. Owner can be reached at 571-276-3615, text or call. Ebay messages will receive a prompt reply as well.
Frame is all solid and clean without any patches, bulkhead is clean as well. Footwells, floors are in good shape. Paint is in good condition for age and still shines but it isn't perfect, it has some of the dissimilar metal bubbling on doors that is typical of all older Defender doors and various other imperfections in places. Body is very straight, only dings are in the passenger door skin and a few minor ones on the bonnet that are not noticeable. It has been repainted at some point but paint looks good for a 31 year old vehicle. Interior is in good condition for it's age as well. No tears in seats and working seat belts, see pics for condition.
The Defender has some desirable accessories like a roof rack with ladder (don't know what brand it is but is solidly built), ZU wheels, mud tires with good tread, working winch, snorkel and roof rack mounted camp shovel.
It runs and drives well with no exhaust smoke ( a puff at cold start up like any old diesel but clears up very quickly, does not smoke on acceleration). Shifts through all gears fine, 4LO and differential locks engage fine as well, brakes are good, starts easy with the glow plugs as it is supposed to. Indicators, wipers, heater, horn work fine and also has a working stereo. It was previously owned by a mechanic.
Overall the Defender is in very good condition. It is a 31 year old vehicle that has not been restored so please expect age related wear. I do not guarantee or recommend long distance drives in any older vehicle without a thorough mechanical inspection/servicing so if a buyer asks if it can be driven to Colorado, I will say it should be shipped. My test drives have been limited to around town driving.
This is a 31 year old vehicle and unrestored, so it is not perfect. I have described the vehicle honestly but please expect the normal wear and tear for a vehicle this age. I can ship it anywhere at buyer's cost.
Serious buyers only please, please have funds available if you bid. There are select finance companies that will provide loans to purchase classic cars but they do require excellent credit so if you plan to finance, do your research as financing a classic car is not like financing newer vehicles. Woodside credit is one classic car loan company that I worked with for a buyer and it seemed to be smooth enough experience.
Vehicle sold AS IS, no warranty expressed or implied. Payment is due 3 days after auction close, deposit due immediately by paypal. Thank you for looking at this listing.
