1955 Series One 86" Land Rover with partially complete frame-off restoration. I originally purchased this Rover in Southern California and shipped it out to Vermont where it has been in storage for the last 10 years. This Series One was stripped down to the frame (no rust desert vehicle), which was powder coated, then rebuilt using all new gaskets, bushings and parts. As you can see from the pictures, there is still more to be done to get it running. Here is a list of what has been done to it so far:
To get it running it will need the following:
I have many thousands into this project and am sorry to part with it, but it is time.
This is a very rare antique Land Rovers, especially here on the east coast. Perhaps only one in Vermont? With NO RUST! From the Desert!
- New wiring harness (AutoSparks UK)
- All new suspension bushings, motor mounts, and shocks.
- New Gaskets, thermostat, hoses and fittings on the engine.
- New brake lines and shoes.
- New starter
- Some paint.
- Some new body gaskets.
To get it running it will need the following:
- The wiring harness is updated to a alternator from the original generator, but there needs to be a bracket built by a machine shop (comes with the schematics) and an alternator.
- It will need the brakes to be primed, bleed and tested.
- It will need the wiring to be finished (lights, starter, battery etc). All the wires have been installed, but not everything has been hooked up.
- It will need an adapter plate for the Webber 34 ICH carburetor that is installed and some modification to the throttle for it to work (or find a OE Zenith carb. or similar).
- It will need more body gaskets (a few come with the sale, but others will need to be purchased by the new owner).
- New glass.
- Seat belts
- Restore the original seats.
