Hello and thanks for looking at my classic 1971 Series IIA Land Rover. Unfortunately "Sheila" is in need of a new home. She is my first ever Rover, but I wouldn't hesitate to drive her across the country at a moments notice. Currently residing in Tennessee she has spent most of her 46 years being delicately used as you can see.
Interior looks great, and everything works as it should with the exception of the speedo being functional sometimes. Somewhere along the way lost the middle seat but I have replaced the driver and passenger with two new seats. All in all she in pretty nice original condition.
Buyer will get both the Hardtop and the original Canvas Soft Top with frame. Hardtop I believe has original paint but needs some love.Sheila has been outfitted with a roll bar and bull guard from Rovers North as well
I will be including a full set of Land Rover factory manuals with the sale
I will also be including a rare original Auxiliary gas tank as well as a few other misc parts.
Huge stack of receipts for everything new purchased for it no expense spared. Such as lights, springs, filters, and other misc parts. The list is endless. Runs extremely well. Gear box and transfer case were rebuilt by previous owner, main seal has been replaced as well. Front Leaf Springs still have the stickers on them. Front Shock are new and I will include a new set of rear shocks in box as well just never got around to installing them.
Braking system seem to be fully original with new fluid reservoir and functions great.
Sheila's also equipped with the very rare Fairey Freewheeling Hub System which makes engaging the 4wd A Breeze!
Most maintenance where possible has been done using Land Rover original parts. Everything that I could, I restored to original, and everything on this vehicle works as it should; the transmission (hand) brake will need to be adjusted.
Pictures depict the body off restoration "Sheila" had in the 90's. Will include all the original photos as well. New Engine Has less than 3000 miles
Sheila's body definitely exhibits signs of her history. But for the most part straight as an arrow. Series IIA Rover's are seldom found in this original condition. A few bumps and encounters with the scenery has provided her a patina appropriate for her use. All of her panels are original, as is the frame and bulkhead. Floor pans look great.
She was repainted by a previous owner, who also was responsible for most of the body condition. But its never stopped anyone from complimenting her beauty. It has never bothered me, just adds to her character. For the Land Rover enthusiast, this is a correct NADA unrestored vehicle, that has all the hard to find bits and pieces needed for a full restoration. I have restored her to excellent mechanical condition with an almost new interior. If, like me, you value that, but just want to drive her, this Landy will function as she was meant to with minimal attention. engine pulls great, brakes work well. She is reliable, inexpensive and simple to maintain. She is ready to provide a new owner many years of enjoyment and experiences.
This vehicle can be driven to her new home, whether it be in the Tennessee area, or California. For long distances though, I recommend putting her on transport. I will be happy to meet the buyer with the vehicle in the local area, and I reserve the right to sell the vehicle locally and/or end the auction early if she sells elsewhere. I am happy to answer your questions on this car, I have loved her dearly, and know her well. I will also be happy to provide the new owner with many additional spare parts and bits included in the auction price.
If you would like a picture of a particular bit, I have many more, let me know. Thanks for looking
