Car description

This is the sort of find that serious collectors dream about. This 1970 Porsche 911E is a matching numbers. one-owner example with extensive documentation. a selection of very rare factory options. and a compelling story.   In 1970 a Captain in the US Army wanted something special. He was overseas and decided to special order a Porsche 911. He met with Willi Bertram of Hans Kahrmann Porsche in Fulda and together they typed out an impressive order sheet with performance in mind. The Captain saved his copy of the original order sheet which showed the total price to be DM 27. 245. 0. A $200 deposit gave the Porsche factory the go ahead to build his car. The 911E was to be painted special order Silvermetallic with factory Recaro Sport Seats and a limited slip gearbox included in the option list below: Color: Special Paint Silvermetallic 1. C 02 -- Equipped for US delivery 2. M 400 -- 6" mag. -wheels with 185/70 VR 15 tires (Deep 6 Fuchs) 3. M 404 -- Stabilisators front and rear (front and rear sway bars) 4. M 425 -- Rear window wiper 5. M 409 -- Recaro sport seats left and right with tilt sliders 6. M 440 -- Antenna. loudspeaker. material for suppression 7. M 568 -- Tinted glass with 2-stage heated rear window 8. M 220 -- Limited slip gearbox 9. M 650 -- Electric sunroof 10. Other non-coded options include rear muffler skirt (included). factory through-the-grille driving lights (still there). Hella lower fog lights (still installed) All of the above options can be verified on the included original order sheet signed by the Porsche Handler and the included Kardex copy. All of the options are also still with the car. This is the most heavily optioned long hood 911 example we have encountered. which will make it a very special and unique car when restored. The Captain traveled to the Porsche factory in Stuttgart to take personal delivery of the car. and saved every scrap of paper he encountered along the way -- factory Porsche maps. the sales rep's business card. the original ownership papers signed by Porsche. and more. These. along with a nice stack of service paperwork (including German Porsche dealer service. famous names like Otto Glockler Automobil Verkaufs GMBH). original maintenance card. manuals. and the factory tool kit were all carefully preserved and are still with the car. Sadly. this 911E would only be on the road for 3 years. A spun bearing parked it in late 1972 and it never saw the road again. We pulled it out of a barn last month. The Captain put 60k miles on the clock during the time he was using the car. touring Germany extensively and then stateside. The interior survived beautifully and presents like a time capsule. If you've ever wondered what an original corduroy sport seat looks like. here it is. The exterior did not fare as well. as described below. While the provenance is undeniable. the car suffered the woes of sitting for decades in a questionable environment. There is rust in both rockers and door sills. The outer body suffered some dents and dings including being pierced by a van door just behind the passenger headlight (see pic). There are other examples of rust to be found underneath. but since the rust happened in storage. many of the usual rust areas appear to have been spared. A skilled restorer will be able to preserve a large amount of factory metal underneath when bringing this car back. After the bearing spun. the engine was dropped off at a repair shop in the US. which went bankrupt with the work left undone. The engine is as pictured. apart. We have included every piece that came with the car. but have no way of knowing if the engine is complete. Both the engine number and the factory limited slip gearbox number (stamped with the factory /10) match the paperwork.   An examination of the photos both here and at the Photobucket gallery will illustrate the amazing condition of many aspects of this car. In the interior: the dash. the radio. the uncracked original leather steering wheel. the glove box. the door panels. the seats. etc. etc. Outside much of the chrome shines almost like new. The factory TTG driving lights and fogs are still intact. The fragile engine grill is remarkably straight. The original Deep 6 Fuchs. including spare. are still with the car. Rare rear wiper is intact along with the 2. 2 engine sticker. Factory tool kit and jack. Driver's manual and case were stored indoors. along with the maintenance book. This car has a clear title and is ready for export. View 100+ photos here: 1970 Porsche 911E - 100+ Pics on Photobucket An opportunity like this doesn't present itself often. if ever. Not only is this a single owner. factory delivered car. the level to which it was optioned make it a standout in any pack. Even the most impeccably restored Porsche usually lacks the provenance granted by the original title. order sheet. and other paperwork contained in the inch-thick folder that is included with this car.
