You know it's a sad day when you list your unfinished dream restoration on eBay after reality has set in that your probably not going finish it.
Well, here I am.
Up for sale is my 1963 Lancia Flaminia Pininfarina 3B coupè 2.5 liter v6.
I bought this car 5 years ago to add to my ever growing collection and with the hopes of restoring her to her former glory.
After driving it for the first time, the hook was set and the obsession began. I fell in love with the sophisticated yet subdued lines and bold beautiful French Yeager instrument gauges. The red Connolly leather interior would show wonderfully against any paint color but Lancia Blue would be striking!
Coined as the "gentlemans Ferrari". The Flaminia Coupe was Bautista Pininfarina's favorite design and it is well known that he said "when I die,it's the car I would like to drive to heaven" . I can attest to that as driving a Flaminia is a wonderful experience!
With only 913 3B 2.5's ever built in left hand drive, this all numbers matching example would really hold it's own during any car event!
So, here's the car:
This is a 99% complete car with the exception of a missing center section of the rear bumpe, trunk license plate bezel and ashtray. Otherwise, she has all her parts including original spare rim/tire tool kit and jack. Also included are service/repair records and literature dating back to the mid 1970's. Currently, the car is stripped down in preparation for body work and paint. I still have the complete drivetrain and electrical installed so the car can be moved under its own power. Yes, the engine start, runs and shifts. Cylinder compression show 135psi across all 6. The original Dunlop 4 wheel disc brakes are functional but the left rear caliper is sticking. Overall, the body is staight. The all aluminum front hood and rear trunk lid show no issues. Left rear c pillar has a dent that needs attention. Other problem areas include the front floor pans, inner/outer rocker panels, lower fender areas and trunk floor. These areas all need metalwork. Rear pans have surface rust but show to be solid metal. Window glass is intact with only a small chip in the front glass.
Electrical is complete and 95% functional. Suspension is functional. Steering is functional but there are a couple of rod ends that need replacement, due to wear.
I've spent over 125 hours on this project and documented it with hundreds of photos as well as kept a log of time spent and parts/supplies costs (all of which is included in the sale).
Here's just a small sample what's been done this far:
Rebuilt carburetor
Repaired striped intake manifold stud
Restored valve covers with correct wrinkle finish
Restored instrument gauges
Rechromed headlight rings
Rechromed turn signal switch
Rechromed front grill bezel
Rechromed mirror assemblies
Restored grill badge
Re-conditioned original Autovox radio
Re-conditioned original air horns
Re-conditioned headlight assemblies and buckets
Restored washer bottle
Repaired wiring to interior lights
Repaired wiring to front bonnet light
Etc. Etc.
Please note, this is not a dad/son simple restoration. Vintage Italian cars take allot of time and patience to restore but the end result can make it all worth it.
2 years ago, this exact year/model was sold at auction by Gooding & Co for $103,000. Zegato Flaminias often sell for $400k plus and Aurelia's can fetch $1mil. That being said, the Flaminia Coupe is well on its way to collector stardom!
Message me for a link to some photos I took before I started on the car- while she was still intact. I tried to share the link here, but eBay would not let me!
Please let me know if you have any questions or if you would like to come and see the car in person.
Thank you !!!!

.As you can see in the photos this car has a manual transmission. It is not an automatic as specified in the item details (that was an oversight) .
