This 1971 Hurst Jeepster Commando is a rare bird. This is one of about 100 produced in the years 1970 to 1971. THIS IS A REAL HURST AND IS IN THE HURST REGISTRY....GUARANTEED!I bought this rare Jeepster from an enthusiast in Tucson Arizona with the purpose of restoring it to original or near original condition. When I purchased it, the Jeepster had been lifted was sprung over the springs, the rear fender flares had been chopped to allow for large tires. The first thing I did was to have it returned to the stock leaf spring set up as she sits now. I was fortunate to find a set of flares from a 1970 Jeepster Commando at a swap meet (see pictures) and they come with the car. I then addressed some of the mechanical issues and go her running smoothly with a new carburator, cleaned and sealed gas tank, fuel lines, filters and tune up. I was able to find an extremely rare set of 5 of the orignal 5 slotted mag wheels that were an option for the Jeepster Commando in 1971, a rare factory spare tire and gerry can carrier, the stainless luggage rack, a reproduction hood scoop, all of the Hurst front and rear stripes and emblems, rechromed the front and rear bumbers, have a new Jeep radio, NOS original Jeep speaker, NOS steering wheel with no cracks, new gauage cluster, new door panels, armrests, complete interior re-done in the original vinyl upholstery, have new sunvisors and a new dash. The tires are brand new. The front hubs and wheel bearings were replaced and now function properly, all brake shoes were replaced as well as a power brake booster and master cylinder were installed. Transmission seals were replaced, new radiator and new hoses and thermostat installed. Electricals are all working. It currently needs installation of cluster gauges and have NOS cover, throttle cable installed, ignition switch install and installation of all the "cosmetics" listed above. The car is still in Southern California but I moved to Oregon 3 years ago and I have lost my storage down there and have no room for it up here. If you are looking for a rare Hurst Jeepster Commando this may be your best opprotunity to find one with all the parts and trim ready to be installed, the big stuff all done and not much left to finish to get it looking like the Hurst in the last stock photo from the internet. I am not a mechanic but will try to answer your questions. I have more pictures but could only post 24 on eBay. As I said, all the parts including the really hard to find stuff is all there. All parts will be included and boxed in the Jeepster at the time of the sale. ThisI will start the auction at $5,000 and this is a NO RESERVE auction and will sell to the highest bidder. I have spent a lot of money and will probbably lose the same but so it goes. The Jeepster is 1,000 miles away and I have no place to store nor room at our new home in Southern, Oregon. This is a NO Reserve auction, highest bidder will buy the Jeepster. The Jeepster does run but will need to be trailered until all ignition parts are installed. Sale is "as is - where is" and no guarantees or warranties are provided as it is a 48 year old vehicle. All forms of payment accepted but the car leaves the premises only after the funds have cleared. The Jeepster is located in Perris, CA zipcode 92570
