Car description

1983 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler in outstanding original condition. We are the 3rd owners of this amazing vehicle. The original owner purchased this vehicle on 1-24-1983, in Bricktown New Jersey. All original documentation, with his name, is included. The same day, he had the entire undercarriage treated with the rust protection, Ziebart. Original dated certificate of authenticity and warranty is also included. It has preserved the undercarriage for the past 35 years to "like new" condition. After his death in 2000, his best friend purchased it and had it shipped out here to Oregon. It has always been covered and garaged, and minimally driven since. We purchased it from the second owner, and at that time, only the wiper motor and valve cover gasket has been replaced. It has only been driven 2000 miles in the past 14 years, and only 300 miles in the past 5 years as documented on the Car Fax report. Only 39303 original miles on the stock Inline 6 cylinder, 4.2L, 258 Cubic Inch engine and factory 4 speed manual transmission. Meticulously maintained. Recent full tune up included oil/filter, antifreeze, spark plugs and wires, points, rotor, condenser and brand new Red-Top Optima Gel Heavy Duty Battery. Only E0 (Ethanol-Free) premium gasoline has been used in this engine and it purrs. Just passed DEQ ( Dept. of Environmental Quality) emissions inspection. Runs and Drives down the road like it did when new. Factory shocks and brakes work perfectly. The factory Power Steering makes the driving experience exceptionally nice. Drives highway speeds with ease. Factory JEEP Locking Hubs, 2 speed transfer case (both High and Low) work perfectly. All 5 Goodyear Wrangler Radial tires are like new. The spare is the original, and has never touched the ground. It is dated 1979. The other 4 are matching tires, dated 1989. All 5 original Factory chrome wheels are like new.
The factory paint is in excellent, outstanding, "like-new" condition on the exterior, interior, bed and engine bay. It shines as nice as it did in 1983. Yes, it is the "Original Paint". Never been wrecked, redone or repainted. The decals are the originals as well. I have a bottle of touch-up paint from the previous owner that will go with the vehicle. Every factory spot weld is visible, and the entire vehicle has 4 fresh coats of wax on it. Just had it professionally detailed inside and out. (including the engine bay). Factory Chrome grill and bumpers are in pristine condition. Rear bumper has a 2" ball on it and a 4-prong flat light adapter. (In case you want to pull a trailer in a parade).
Interior is in excellent condition. Original seats and upholstery have no rips or tears in them. Original seat belts and visors are excellent ( no rips or tears). Locking center console. Carpet is like new and I have a couple of floor mats down to protect it. All gauges, tachometer, lights, heater, fan, defrost, wipers, windshield washer squirter, horn, interior lights (under dash), lighter, windows, doors and locks work as they should. Even the clock (with second hand) keeps perfect time. The dash has never been drilled or cut. Factory padded Grab-Bar for passenger. All seals for the top, doors and windshield are in excellent shape. Factory roll-bar, Wooden Bed-rails, cross bars and tonneau cover. Tonneau cover was remade years ago to factory specs. using the original as a template. Comes with the original "Jeep" label on the original fabric. (See Picture). The original scissor jack and tire iron are in their correct location in the engine bay. Factory AM/FM Stereo works perfectly.
The top comes off with 11 bolts. 5 on the windshield frame, 4 on the bed, and 2 for the seat belt shoulder strap that attach to the roll bar. (see pictures). Side doors are removable as well. Windshield folds down and hooks to the hood (see picture). Tailgate folds down and tonneau cover rolls up to the cab where 2 straps hold it in place. Also comes with 2 Best-top soft 1/2 doors for driving around with the top off. (See pictures).
Current Pacific Wonderland Oregon Specialty Plates will go with the vehicle if purchased by an Oregon buyer. Vehicle is currently licensed through January 30th, 2019. Comes with the original 1983 Owner's manual, Warranty documents, Maintenance Schedule and Reference Guide. Also comes with the original "Driving your 4-Wheel-Drive Vehicle (and getting along with the environment), Glove compartment "Road Atlas" and vacation guide. (See pics.). Will also come with it's car/truck cover. Clear title ( in my name) in hand. If you are looking for a versatile utilitarian vehicle, this is it!! Top off in the Spring and Summer, Top on for Fall and Winter. Don't miss your opportunity to own this famous classic vintage vehicle that will only gain value year after year! This CJ-8 is "Investment-Grade". The reserve is set relatively low for it's value. This one belongs in a museum, or collection of extremely nice Jeeps. You will be hard-pressed to find an original "Concours Quality" Jeep Scrambler CJ-8 in this condition, for the money. Last 3 years of pricing history on Hemmings.com for Jeep CJ8 Scramblers carry an avg. asking price of roughly $26,500, with the nicest examples commanding $34,995. And most of those are complete restorations. The only one nicer we have ever seen was sold at Barrett Jackson last year, for $41,800. But it was black, and didn't have a factory tonneau cover. I reserve the right to end this auction early as it is listed for sale locally as well. $500 nonrefundable deposit via Paypal, wire transfer or cash is due within 24 hours of auction ending, by the winning bidder. Remaining balance will be due within 72 hours via wire transfer or cash. I will "overnight" mail the title to the new owner when full funds have been received. Willing to work with buyer and the shipping of this vehicle, shipping costs are buyer's responsibility.
