Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this MK 9 Jaguar Saloon. These large luxury sports saloons from the 1960's encompassed everything about the Jaguar name. This car was recently purchased from it's long term owner who kept the car in a local California storage facility. The car has been off the road for at least the last 23 years and needs restoration, but appears very complete and original with good panel fit.
The body on this car appears fairly straight with nice closing doors, hood, and trunk. There is some rust around the lower rear fenders, front fenders, and some around the rear door openings. The car retains all of its chromework, glass, etc, along with a box of extra bits.Underneath, the chassis frame looks excellent, straight, and rot-free. The rockers look good along with all of the jacking points.
The car is highly original down to it's air cleaner and decal, Ace rimbellishers and hubcaps, spare tire and holddown, rare interior trinkets, Lucas headlamps and foglamps, keys, etc.The engine in the car is the original and correct 3.8 liter unit, but the cylinder head was changed at some point and is not matching to the data plate. The engine turns nicely by hand. The car rolls and steers fine with good steering.There is a newer stainless steel exhaust system, complete throughout the whole car, that was fitted before the car was put into storage. Possibly a previous good running car...?
Overall, a very complete Jaguar saloon for restoration. A lot of car for a sensible buy-in price.
