No reserve beyond opening bid.
A Rare Opportunity to own a 1969 International Scout 800a in mostly original, unrestored "survivor" condition. It has the sought-after 304 V8 engine, 4 speed manual transmission, 4x4, and removable Travel top. As the old saying goes, they're only original once!
The truck was purchased in Nevada in 2001, and shows minor signs of surface corrosion on the frame. No evidence of rust repair or collision. After being moved to Wisconsin, it was immediately put into climate-controlled storage, where it stayed until Spring of 2017. It hasn't been driven on the road in about 17 years.
After sitting for that long, it has some needs. We had a shop take a look at it and they were able to start the engine and move the Scout easily under its own power, using an auxiliary fuel source. But they stated that the fuel tanks will need to be replaced, and much of the fuel system will need servicing. Drum brakes will need servicing. Some seeping from the rear differential was noted.
It has some scrapes, scratches and the paint has gotten oxidized over the last 49 years. There are dents on the front hood and clip, and the passenger door (we have a non-matching replacement hood and front clip available to high bidder). The spare tire rack is missing. Rubber seals are dry-rotted and cracked. So far we have not been able to open the lift gate. Handle moves, but seems to be catching.
Interior is in very good condition. Original gauges, original steering wheel. Seats are in excellent condition. May have been recovered at some point. Windows still have original Guardian stamps on them.
Non-original parts we found are limited to wheels/tires (Armstrong Norseman with about 70% tread left), aftermarket tow hitch and bumper on front, Rancho springs and steering damper, and an aftermarket muffler.
Odometer shows 37,059 miles. We do not know if that's accurate.
This Scout is an excellent candidate for full restoration... or better yet, just address the mechanical needs and drive it as is. Sweep the Preservation category at every car show you enter.
