Ladies in gentlemen, I’m pleased to announce the auction of my 1971 International Scout. We have been together now for 15 years, and the time has come for us to part ways and make new friends. I purchased the Scout from a guy in San Antonio, TX and drove it to my home in Austin, TX. It stayed there for the better part of a decade in my garage until I moved to San Diego, CA. Over the years I have spent countless hours restoring the vehicle and adding improvements to its performance and appearance. Without going into a lengthy list of details, I will highlight the most notable improvements in both categories.
- Performance
o 4-inch Suspension Lift
o 33x12.50R17 Kicks
o 17in Rockstar XD Wheels
o Magnaflow Stanless Steel Exhaust System
o Hi-flow Aluminum Radiator
o Upgraded Steering and Linkage
o Reinforced bed corners for better articulation off road
o New Carburetor, Plugs, Wires, Caps, and Rustproof Polyethylene Gas Tanks
- Appearance
o Bare metal sandblasted with custom body and bondo work
o Waterproof Rhino Lining Interior with Hydroturf Sound Damping Deck
o Custom Made Steel Rear Bumper
o Matte black primer, ready for a final coat or keep it as is
This is absolutely a one-of-a-kind Scout and definitely a head-turner. It’s hard to go somewhere without someone complimenting its appearance or asking to buy it.
I have a much more detailed list of improvements with pictures and receipts to prove the blood, sweat and tears (and money) that went into this 15-year relationship.
Please ask questions or schedule a visit to see it,Happy Bidding!
Disclaimer: This truck is being sold as is with no warranty. A $1,000 deposit is due within 24 hours of end of auction. Vehicle is also for sale locally and internationally and I do reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Vehicle can be viewed in person by serious buyer in San Diego, California.
A bit of history, the Scout was originally created as a competitor to the Jeep in the early 60’s and quickly became a hit after the release of the 800 series. Upgraded exterior and interior, better instrumentation, and more powerful engine options quickly set it apart from its predecessor. By the time International released the 800B (Aug 1970 – Mar 1971), it has been through two revisions (800 & 800A) and was dialed in. Unfortunately, this was the end of an era because the 800B was only in production for 7 months as they ramped up production of its successor, the Scout II. In short, finding a 1971 Scout 800B is a rare find and adds to the unique experience of owning one.
